Now the serpent was more subtle than any other wild creature that the LORD God had made. Gen 3:1a
Satan, apparently, is a clever fellow. Do you suppose sometimes he tricks us into doing his will?
Ephesians 2
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
2 Cor 4:3-4
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Takes effort to resist him
Eph 6
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11
Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual
forces of wickedness in the heavenly
places. 13 Therefore,
take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Interesting.
Remember when Jesus turned to Peter and said "get behind me Satan...". Peter[Matt:16:23]
yes - good point
Matt 16
22
Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “God forbid
it, Lord! This shall never happen to You.” 23
But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
