I'm going to start reading Philippians and see where it takes me. All of my prayer time with God always happens in secret, in fact no one really ever knows when I'm praying or have prayed. I just find it easier to pray when its in private.
Hi again LDFC, I agree with Paul, Philippians would be a great book to read through. Do you ever read slowly and really try to consider what each verse says, talking with God about it as you go along? That can be helpful, not only in understanding it, but in growing in your faith and in deepening your understanding of God Himself (and your relationship with Him).
And if you questions about a particular verse or passage, write it down and come back here and discuss it with us
You could also go
here and get some help from seeing multiple translations of the same verse together on the same page, and/or with study tools such as online Bible commentaries about the verse in question ..
Bible Hub.
Finally, you might also try "listening" through the Bible to change things up, which you can do here ..
BibleGateway.com- Audio Bibles
If you do, keep pen and paper nearby so you can write down things that interest you and return and study them later. BTW, you'll also find these "audio" Bibles in various translations and formats, from a single reader to multiple readers, to fully dramatized (with multiple voices, music, and even the sounds of animals or ox cart wheels rolling, if the passage calls for it).
God bless you! (
Numbers 6:24-26)
--David
p.s. - try to see God and rejoice,
even in the very little things of your day (and in the people He brings across your path .. even the not so pleasant ones
), always thanking him for the good things, as well the not so good (knowing that we often grow closest to Him in our greatest times of need, when we have to patiently/faithfully trust Him/depend upon Him because the times are difficult .. e.g.
Romans 8:28; Isaiah 40:31).
Philippians 4
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
