Just recently I have had further occasion to go back to Philippians with its themes of joy in suffering. So searching and instructive.

One can never stop finding inspiration from Philippians.Just recently I have had further occasion to go back to Philippians with its themes of joy in suffering. So searching and instructive.
I agree! and the relevant passages in Acts which are set in Philippi are instructive also )Lydia, whose heart the Lord opened; the Philippian jailer, etc.).One can never stop finding inspiration from Philippians.
I just saw this just after I had written abiut my own heart opening. Praise God!!!!!!! He is good and perfect and Just.I agree! and the relevant passages in Acts which are set in Philippi are instructive also )Lydia, whose heart the Lord opened; the Philippian jailer, etc.).
I think it's a good way round: God opened Lydia's heart, rather than Lydia getting the credit for opening her heart.I just saw this just after I had written abiut my own heart opening. Praise God!!!!!!! He is good and perfect and Just.
Thanks for your comment. Yes, joy is a central theme of Philippians; and it's interesting how joy, thanks giving and prayer are interrelated themes in chapter 4 of Philippians, as they are also of 1 Thessalonians 5.16-18. It's as if each stimulates the others.Philippians is definitely a great book to read... As are all of the books in our holy bible! I love that God confirms to us in His words that through prayer and supplication, through submission to His will and His love... That we can endure all things through Him (Him who strengthens us!). He is so wonderful and kind, easing our sorrows and hardships through His words... Honestly, I don't think I'd have survived on this earth as long as I have without His guidance and teachings. Actually, I don't just think it.. I'm certain of it! Thanks to God, even when I am in a hard situation and should suffer because of it.. I can find joy and peace in Him

,@SheepOfTheFold Hi; this is one of the forums that I was referring to!
Why not start a thread on it, and keep on topic, so to speak? It's true, Phillippians has much to teach in way of God's love for His faithful, and where to see His blessings.
Personally, my favorite is Zepheniah, seeing God's preservation of His people through His wrath. It reads much like it could be also read for this world today to warn of God's judgement to come and hatred of sin and immorality.

Thanks; like in 1 Thessalonians 5, in Philippians 4, joy, thanksgiving and prayer are linked. One of the things I love about Philippians is 4:4 Rejoice in the LORD always and again I say rejoice.
No matter what circumstances you are in, you can rejoice.
Paul wrote this book while in prison, and it is the most joy filled book in the Bible.
