I'm glad the story was shown to be mostly false. I expected better of Congressional Democrats that what was reported. The truth is better.

The Democrats stood and then the President milked the moment. If they sat down after that who could blame them.
For democrats, comrade Valentine. Clapping short is only small reeducation in guantanamo gulag, while refusal to clap is treason, punishable by firing squad.Better to whom?
You mean when Justice Alito silently mouthed "that's not true"? Only lip readers watching the video knew he did that. Or are you referring to a different incident that I am not aware of?
People who honor vets.Better to whom?
It hadn't been shown to be false when I posted it. I'm glad we now know that it was mostly false.I expect better of people than to post inflammatory, dishonestOPs. But that's just me.

Are you referring to the Snopes article?
You have my Vuvuzela.Anyway, I think I have a solution. Next time Trump appears before Congress (assuming it isn't for impeachment hearings) Democratic Congresspeople need to stand, clap and make noise during his entire appearance. That's the only way to be sure they won't get in trouble for not clapping long enough. Bring out air horns, drums, whatever it takes to be patriotic enough for the alt-right.
Might make for a long night, though, at least until Trump gives up trying to talk over them.
Because I saw the story and thought it was worth discussing. Five pages of discussion in this thread so far seems to show that I was correct. You didn't know if it was true. That's how a reasonable person would phrase that. So why post it?
You were also given the video source of the "You lie!" incident yelled at Obama that you asked for. Maybe at least a simple thank you is in order there?Because I saw the story and thought it was worth discussing. Five pages of discussion in this thread so far seems to show that I was correct.
Since Ronald Reagan first began this showmanship of using "ordinary people in the stands " to garner surrogate compassion and emotional attachment for themselves I have winced every time it is used and it is used by everyone of them every time they make this kind of speech. The phoniness of the politicians both introducing and applauding is palpable. Those being used may or may not realize they are being used but I still find it insulting to them.
