  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Although they weren't the ones I had in mind when I wrote that post, neocons are liberals too. The greatest danger the country is facing is not the Democrats being voted back into power, but that Trump would become another Bush. This conference is reassurance that it is not about to happen.

Story, but I think you’ve lost the plot...a little like your ‘leader’...

Bush was a deeply flawed president, but at the very least, one could argue that he was a decent human being who surrounded himself with people who were... less so.

Donald doesn't have that decency to fall back on.

...and what party would that be? The FBI most certainly does stand accused of doing precisely what the Russian government does - that's what last weeks congressional hearings were about. If we have people in US intelligence who are not above interfering in the US presidential election, then it stands to reason we would have people in US intelligence who are not above lying to the American people about Russia interference in the US presidential election.

That analogy implies actual evidence, which I am still waiting for. The allegations in Mueller's indictment are not evidence, despite the press's eagerness to treat them as though they were established fact.

Hilarious. So let me get this straight. For the past 18 months y'all say that there is no evidence of XYZ. Mueller submits an indictment, and that is being dismissed because what? The trial not being concluded and evidence submitted before the public? If that is the reasoning all the claims of no evidence are invalid, and everyone should stop attacking Mueller until all indictments are submitted and the trial concluded with evidence on record.

This is unbelievable. Like Mueller would submit an indictment with no evidence to back it up. Y'all tying yourselves in knots trying to justify this presidency. I seriously fear for some of y'alls emotional well being.

He obviously got his marching orders from Putin...

Only one day home, Trump decides to eliminate the Cybersecurity Director position?

What?! That only makes it easier for Russia to hack elections...

Oh, I get it.

Is there anyone with a brain in his head who doesn't see he's been told to lay the welcome mat out to Russian bots and hackers?

This definitely deserves its own thread. The optics on this are horrible, as you point out, coming right after the summit with Putin.

I thought he did this last month or the month before.

Edit: the link you posted is from May 15th. This was before the summit, still I don't think it is a wise move and this will probably be looked at more closely especially after today. Trump was asked if Russia was still targeting us, he said no. As big as the election meddling was, equally important is the fact that they have targeted our electrical grid and technology related to our water supply and may be able to shut them down at will. Putin is a danger to more than just our elections.

Based on the fact that the chances of any of these Russian intelligence officers ever showing up court is extremely remote, and Muller knows it. He knows that he will never need submit any evidence before the public. Furthermore, the indictment was on the eve of the summit, perfect timing if the real point of the indictment is to tar the Trump administration.

This is unbelievable. Like Mueller would submit an indictment with no evidence to back it up.

Remember the last round of indictments? Those Russians asked Mueller for the evidence he intended to present so that they could prepare their defense. Mueller was forced to admit that he didn't have his evidence ready. Yes, I have reason to believe he's bluffing.

That's not the point. This should have been a clear sign to Trump as to what the Russians are doing and knowing this he should have handled the summit much differently. It just places even more suspicion on him.

30 indictments and he's buffing? And he probably has more to go..Trump -(and I guess you) wishes.

The Bible tells us there will be no peace and when we hear "peace, peace" then it's time to hunker down. Any peace that might be acheived will not be lasting as man is incapable of governing himself, which is why Jesus will have to come back down to this earth in oorder to straighten out this mess.

"Peace in our time" oh yes, worked so well before.

At any rate, it doesn't matter how wrong, bad or stupid your laundry is, you don't air it in public.

Number 3 comes into play for the same reason. He has betrayed confidence in his own government and its intelligence agencies.
And number 1 is in play as well when he talks about possibly turning over American citizens to Russian security forces.
