I am disabled and would like to go to church. I wonder are there churches that have people that would pick me up? It is scary to ask. I can't walk across the street or to the bus station. I don't drive as well.

Almost every church I've ever been to would pick someone up, in your situation. Ask, and you shall receive.

Call or ask your family, friends and the churches in your area to see if arrangements
can be made your transportation to and from church.
Or if that not be possible, ask if someone can come to your home to help you with
bible study...maybe offer to host a bible study in your home?

First ask God help direct you to where He wants you.I am disabled in a wheelchair. I live in a small farming community (population of around 1400) and the towns closest to me are all small too, a little bigger than my town. Not all the little churches around can afford the buses but some have the little ones that usually have lift if you are in a wheelchair but even in the other churches there are people who are more than willing to come and pick me up to help me get to and from church on Sunday, Wed. and any of their events. I am sure you can find help. Dont be afraid to ask any church for help, thats what churches are for, to help spiritually and physically, if they refuse I wouldnt want to be in that church anyway. We use to have a real small church just like 4 blocks from my house that may of had if they were lucky 10 people but I think fewer, but they even would help. Just start asking people or pick up that phone theres nothing to fear my friend. If for some reason you would ever be told no we have no body just say well thanks any way and go to the next on your list. If you are not in a wheelchair but have that much trouble I would get a wheelchair for the purpose to help get to certain places easier and maybe get to go to places you would not be able to go otherwise. May God bless you !

I have found churches more than happy to assist people getting there. I'm sure there are some that wouldn't but at least that way you will know it isn't a good church to attend. I have got a lift to church where it was a case of waiting around for an hour before the service or being half an hour late. A few months later I moved house and could just walk down the road. So with no disability they were still happy to give me a lift.

It is also my experience that either the church or someone at the church will help someone. Also, sometimes there are free rides available through community services. They can be sponsored by a bus system, a disability support organization, or perhaps through senior (elderly) support services.

You might hunt down two people rather than one who are happy to help you get to church so that you have a backup for when one can't make it. They could alternate driving you (or some other scheme).

I think that would be a wonderful way for people in the church to help a brother or sister in Christ out! Definitely contact the pastor of the church you choose and see who can help you out. I think you'll find people who are more than willing. Best wishes and hope you can soon be in worship with those of the church again!
