Ted,
I blame much stuff on the fact that I had a (or many) strokes.
I need to read this through several times as I am now somewhat dislexic.
I must explain what I believe also...
The "affordable health care act" (if I am correct with the bill) was passed before the Congress read it; before Congress was given time to read; or discus it.
hi RDGSr,
I'd have to see some evidence that that statement is true. I have a really hard time believing that the men and women whose job it is to pass the laws of our land passed something that has, since its introduction, been so very, very controversial and we are to believe that no one in Congress read it. Now, is it possible that a particular congressman didn't think it important enough to read and familiarize himself with some particular point of the bill, hmm, maybe, but that happens every day in our legislature. And keep in mind that 'Congress' can't read. Congress is a word that denotes a body of men and women and each of them can read, but when one says that 'Congress' didn't read something then you're asking me to believe that 535 men and women passed a bill of law without reading it? Uhhhh, no, I'm not that gullible.
And let me also say that 'if' 535 men and women whose job it is to know and understand the laws that they pass are trying to tell us that they didn't take the time to read and understand something as great as the Affordable Healthcare Act, then our problems are waaaaaay deeper than the passage of the Affordable Healthcare Act.
Americans had this "foisted" on us. Nancy Pelosi has been mocked over and over for her narative "you have to pass it" before you can read it is what she said to Congress before given a chance to read it.
I'm curious why you included the "you have to pass it" in quotation marks and not the 'before you can read it'. The way you have written that means that she only encouraged her fellow congresspersons at some point in the debate and discussion phase that they needed to pass the bill and quite frankly I've sat in on legislative sessions and that's a fairly common encouragement just as the opposing side will have someone saying "you cannot pass this bill." The 'before you can read it' however is just someone's added understanding and not actually words that Mrs. Pelosi used in conjunction with her encouragement to pass the bill.
As I say, I honestly doubt that no one in congress had read or understood what was being voted on. This however, is a common cry of the losers. "Oh, wait, I didn't understand. They rushed us into this. It just isn't fair!"
This mess; and the financial, catastrofic group of new laws and restrictions placed on America ar what needed to be discussed BEFORE Congress voted and passed it.
Again, friend, I will repeat that I'm going to need to see some proof, other than just someone's position who lost in the vote, that there is any truth to this.
I still say God, in His ... should I say anger for kicking Him out of America,.... is about to show us what it is like to the rest of the world to get some true persecution.
I believe we are in the last; should I say dispensation; (this generation shall not pass away until all be fulfilled) before, or of the beginning of sorrows.
Oh, I agree completely that we are not the great 'nation blessed of God', that some want to make us out to be. What we are is a nation of sinners, and we always have been, that was initially founded on several godly principles, but has never really been particularly godly in our actions. We are one of the nations, if we last that long, who will be standing against Israel in the day that all the nations come against her.
Compare how far we have come in aproximately six thousand years;
from horseback to cars & trucks;
from walking to flying;
from reading stories of space to "reading" the universe;
etc. and mor.
The polution of our oceans where we can almost walk on the sea of plastic bottles; which also harms our ecology;
fires all over America; floods and mudslides everywhere;
humongous sink holes (I need to fix my word again)
And "when the days get like the days of Noah" ...
Murder and mayhem everywhere.
I need to mow our lawn before I get "massecred"
Talk to you in a while.
Yes, I am in complete agreement with all of that also, but I'm also trusting in the word of God that our job as born again believers is not to overly concern ourselves with the workings of worldly governments. Sure, we can make our position and understandings known, but there is absolutely no Scriptural evidence that a single believer written of in the new covenant writings said or wrote or inferred that God's children were to be about saving the world through some political position or agenda. My job, your job and the job of any other individual that lives in this world today is to make an attempt to tell those with whom we may have contact or influence about the great, great mercy that our Creator has shown us through His Son, Jesus, and that if they will believe and trust and adopt the testimony of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as what they believe as truth, then on the day of God's judgment they will be saved. The world is going to continue to spiral towards the inevitable end that is already reserved for it. It is going to burn up as hay, wood and stuble. That is going to happen and it is going to happen to the nation of the United States as much as it is to any other nation on the face of the earth.
And according to Jesus that day has already been appointed. Peter makes the same claim that the day is already appointed. So, what is our purpose in this effort? Are we going to make God change the appointed day? Are we going to hear God say on the day of His judgment, "Oh, I want to give special recognition to the US for being the best of the worst through these last few hundred years." Or, "You should all give thanks to Richard because he saved your government and I've decided that instead of the government that I had initially established to be the government of the new Jerusalem I'm going to use the model of the US government."
Listen, maybe I'm wrong, but I sure don't think so. God is much more interested and wants to reward you that you saw some young woman who was pregnant and thought the only way out might be suicide or abortion, to come along side of her and tell her about the hope found in Jesus. God wants you when you see some young man out on the street in some kind of trouble to make an attempt to tell him about the love and hope that God has given us through Jesus. You want to save our 'government', then go tell that Senator or this Congresswoman or that aide of the hope that comes only through Jesus. And when you have installed solid God-fearing born again believers as the various representatives of our government as at least the majority of such people, then you might see godly changes in our government.
God is not an American.
