Learning another language is interesting. I've done this & experienced two main approaches-
1. Word translations are taught eg x means y in english
2. Imersion & thinking in the language

When I was learning conversation using #2, no english was spoken in the class from the first lesson on. The teacher used cherades & props. This was totally overwhelming at first & we felt like we were making almost no progress. The advantage of this though was it taught us to think in the language & we learned quickly after the first few lessons.

A language can be thought of as a way of interpreting the world & understanding it. Kingdom principles turn the world thinking (language) on its head, eg blessed are the poor in spirit, blessed are those who mourn, last will be first & the return of the rotter prodigal son is celebrated rather than scolding him etc etc.

I think we all have the experience regularly where Jesus does something we don't understand, or we experience something in life we don't understand & it's like He is speaking another language. A few things are coming to mind in terms of what I think can help us with this in this situation.

Firstly, entering boots & all (immersion) into our relationship with Jesus. I think we are all subconsciously holding back in some areas for some reason, perhaps for example learning to trust Him in some area (eg finances). So we can pray something like "Lord, I don't understand what You are doing in this area & (if finances) why it seems You are not providing for me as I believe You should, but I choose to trust You in this situaion".

Secondly, being filled (immersed) with the Spirit (Eph 5:18 {verb tense is present continuous}, Luke 11:13). I've just realised as I am writing this it's been SO long since I asked the Lord to do this for me, so I stopped typing & did this. This is also easier to do when in the midst of people worshipping God & there is a strong sense of His presence.

Thirdly, in terms of understanding the word, we can ask Jesus to help us understand it. For example there is a lovely prayer in Ps 119:18- "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law(word)". There is also a gifting to the body of Christ which helps us understand the bible- teaching. Sitting under a good teacher is such a blessing & provides not only traslated word for life, but food for life. (Neh 8:8, 1 Cor 12:28, Eph 4:11)

Perhaps the language barrier is indicative of truths that you have not yet understood concerning the principles of the Kingdom. Maybe the Lord would have you open your heart to new revelation.

I was in the audience when Jesus was giving the Sermon on the Mount... unfortunately, it was in Aramaic so I couldn't understand it. So I just tried to remember the English translation.

The Lord is speaking to your heart (Aramaic) words that your mind(English translation) has yet to understand.

Matthew 5 -NASB Studylight Audio

The Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes

When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain ; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
"Blessed are the gentle , for they shall inherit the earth.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
"Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

"Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
"Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Disciples and the World

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket , but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Jesus wanted all to hear and understand.
