Interesting. Zimmerman possibly lies about his knowlege of a bank account's balance and he should be locked up?
Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren lies about her heritage when she fraudulently claimed minority status in order to get jobs via affirmative action at two universities and it's "nothing to see here"?

The logic in your comparison is disjointed. Lying on a job application is not the same as lying to the court.

The comparison is not fair, you are correct. I apologize.
Lying when one is a criminal defendant is surely not the same nor as serious as when one is lying when one is a senatorial candidate.

It is the specific lie about a passport.
There are 2 issues when it comes to bail.
A danger to society and flight risk.
Someone without a passport is a lesser flight risk as it limits their ability to travel outside the country.
Having lied about that is a double hit when it comes to being a flight risk.

Because he's totally in a position where this was a good idea. I have to wonder what's running through a man's mind when he knows he's in the public spotlight but still thinks he can get away with "not knowing" about donations and "not knowing" about a spare passport...
