the main freedom at issue today....the freedom to have a choice of health care and not have the illegal forced insurance crammed down our throats.
How exactly is it illegal? And you support cramming things down others' throats (such as your personal morals), so why don't you support cramming healthcare down others' throats? Cramming is cramming.

For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my state.

Maybe now, with the ability to filibuster, the majority party will allow input from the minority party and practice the inclusivity of which they preach.
We did. You guys just didn't want to.

I thought that everything was supposed to be about sin to you Christians. Or is it only not about sin when you're doing something you enjoy?

Ummmm, no. The gospel is what Christians are all about.
Since you ask: Read romans 3:23 - 6:23 and 10: 9-10. We are all sinners in need of a savior. We also have brains and preferences and make choices based upon principles. Even when we are hated.

Honestly, I don't see how any good can come of this. All this does is make sure NOTHING gets done that the government proposes. How in the hell is a completely ineffective govt. a good thing?!
You have much to learn, young grasshopper...:)

But aren't Christians supposed to try not to sin, since sin is what separates you from God, and since God dislikes sins? Or are you one of the types of Christians who thinks that you can do whatever you want, no matter how much the Bible speaks against it, since you're guaranteed forgiveness through the blood of Jesus?

This is an incredible statement, considering the fact that the major policy that the government is trying to pass, health care reform, shows a clear willingness on the part of the government to compromise and negotiate (to the point where the current bill on offer is hardly supported by the left because major compromises have been made).

The problem is they are only compromising and negotiating within their own party. That's not how America is supposed to be. It appears to me that democrats only care about skin color and gender when it comes to the rights of minorities. The citizens aligned with the minority party in Congress, the one that championed equal rights, are not being allowed fair representation.

Perhaps now that will change. That's why tonight I am finally proud of my state.

I hope I can be proud of California next. We need to take our country back and have someone serve with common sense! Beat them liberals back. They are arrogant and don't care about the American people. They blatantly state it!

Illegal in the sense that it isn't constitutional is probably what he meant.

As for the cramming of morals and healthcare, well these are rather different things. Healthcare would create a legal requirement that individuals purchase insurance, with their own money, with some sort of penalty for not doing so. The 'cramming' of morals, on the other hand, doesn't create any legal requirements for anyone. I can say 'I think X is wrong' all day, and while it may grate a bit, no one has to do anything because of it.

The negotiating and comprising went across party lines. You are either misinformed or misrepresenting what has happened over the last 12 months.

A 5 second search on Google of "democrats negotiate with republicans health" came up with this Time article from mid last year questioning whether or not the Democrats would CONTINUE to negotiate with Republicans:

Can Democrats Reform Health Care Without Republicans? - TIME

Guess what, the health care plans haven't gotten any more leftist since then - actually the opposite.

Also form that quick google search I come up with a lot of links from Democrat bloggers from around September last year urging the Democrats to stop negotiating with the Republicans... so that is even after the Democrats had the numbers.

I'm sorry, but it is completely wrong to suggest that cross-party compromises and negotiations have not been occuring. The only reason they have stalled recently is because of a Republican refusal to move any more from their current position.

Dude they even locked them out of the chamber. they don't even need the R vote at the sen or congress. For the have the majority vote. The problems are within their own party! Bribes and all.
