Monitor Frustrations

Ok, my two year old 21 inch CRT monitor just blew.

I got a little warbling noise followed by a loud BANG and now the thing doesnt display anything.

Obviously I need a new monitor but I cant figure out what to get. Normally I want a CRT because I've never had a problem with a CRT, the picture doesnt change no matter which angle you view the screen.

I would like to replace it with at least a 21 incher but I've been told that flatscreen plasmas burn out quickly and I dont want LCD because the image distorts if you change the angle at which you view the picture.

I also dont have a lot of money.

Any suggestions would be helpful

try and look for a used CRT monitor... should be able to find them in local papers or online sites. I say local because shipping may cost you more than the monitor if you order or buy one from online and have it shipped. I have seen 21 inch monitors here local used for about $50 and under (CRT). I suggest also you go take a look at the newest LCD monitors again if you haven't in the last 6 months or so. You may find them less disagreeable.

Wish you were across the street~I'd give my old one so I could replace it with an LCD. For me the angle thing isn't that big of a deal; it's so light I can turn it with one hand-I find it's easier on the eyes, the view is cleaner, it uses less energy, takes up less room~can you tell I love my Samsung? I'm using the old CRT in the kid's room on the PC looking forward to the day it dies :D

I think LCD's have come a long way. If the image does not distort on mine. It's much different from a laptop LCD.

Newegg.com usually features very decently priced screens. I got a 19" widescreen (I can never look back after going widescreen, either) by Hanns G And it's been working great for almost two years.

By the way, I notice that Newegg does have a few CRT's up, but the price isn't that awesomely different.
