1 timothy 2:8) I want men everywere to lifting up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

I was doing my dailying reading, and ran across this verse, and I never really thought about this till It hit me, is this the proper way to pray? Is there and specific verse in the bible that says that we have to have our eyes close, heads bowed. and on our knees when we pray? I do get on my knees morning ,noon and nite, cause I am able, but can I just walk around during the day and talk to God, and count It as prayer?

Lifting up holy hands before God, means that your hands are clean. There is no blood on them, you have not shed innocent blood, you have not harmed people in anyway. A lot of people do not pray with their hands up, because they do not have holy hands. They have done or said something that caused harm to another individual and have not repented of it.

If we walk in love, our hands will be clean and we will feel comfortable to lift them up when we pray.

...there really is no wrong way to pray. Any time we spend time communicating with God - thats a positive, whether it be on your knees or sitting outside in your swimming pool, or sitting on your patio furniture watching the leaves of the trees sway back and forth. Its all good and "right" in the eyes of God...In my opinion :)
have a good one~

That really is why Jesus paid the price that He did, so our communication or fellowship could be restored with the father. Also I believe in a two fold atonement, that Jesus came so our fellowship with each other could be restored. His purpose is that in the fullness of time, we be gathered together as one in Jesus.

There is a right and a wrong way to pray, whatsoever we ask for in prayer, believing, we shall receive. But also it helps is we pray according to His will. What God does not like is for us to beg, or to grumble and complain. We enter His courts with thanksgiving in our heart, and we enter His gates with praise.

"To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock:
Do not be silent to me,
Lest, if You are silent to me,
I become like those who go down to the pit.
Hear the voice of my supplications
When I cry to You,
When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary." Psalms 28:2

"So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name." Psalms 63:4

"And I will delight myself in Your commandments,
Which I love.
My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments,
Which I love,
And I will meditate on Your statutes." Psalms 119:48

"Behold, bless the Lord,
All you servants of the Lord,
Who by night stand in the house of the Lord!
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary,
And bless the Lord.
The Lord who made heaven and earth
Bless you from Zion!" Psalms 134:2

“Arise, cry out in the night,
At the beginning of the watches;
Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord.
Lift your hands toward Him" Lamentations 2:19

"Let us search out and examine our ways,
And turn back to the Lord;
Let us lift our hearts and hands
To God in heaven.
We have transgressed and rebelled;
You have not pardoned." Lamentations 3:41

There is no single posture that one has to pray in. Sometimes you might pray on your knees, sometimes with hand upheld, sometimes maybe even lying flat on the floor.

Usually, when I pray with my hands up, it is a sign or worship or submission, like "here are my hands Lord, they belong to you" or "pick me up Daddy." Other times, it might be like a hug. I can't reach the Lord, so I hold my hands up to him like a hug.
