Great job Joel, two steps ahead of me!

My husband was at our local library not long ago. He likes to go there to read over his luch break. He was sitting in the lobby reading Isaiah. A lady come by and glanced at what he was doing. She asked him if he was reading Hebrew. She said she was born in northern Israel and lived there all her life - but she would have a difficult time reading the Hebrew text of scripture They had a pleasant conversation about language. Just thought you may find that interesting.

We will actually be starting a Hebrew class at my synagogue. We will be studying Hebrew word pictures. My Rabbi says that if you uderstand what the word picture is you can almost always tell what a word means. I look forward to it. As I learn, maybe I can share something!

I know this is my first post to the forums. But, it was mentioned that the festivals to be taught about aswell. I suggest this having its own "forum" if it needs one.
I really dont think it wise to mix both the learning of Hebrew and the learning of festivals into one forum. That would get to cluttered, in my opinion.

As a linguist, I am very interested too.

Maybe we can have an Ancient Biblical Language forum and study Hebrew and Greek.

If you wanted to, we could take it to the next level. Attack based on the fact that we still follow Torah and many of it's commands to the letter, is not new. Instead of having to go into a huge discussion in one thread, could we start up a forum that has a thread for each of the mitzvah where that's mitzvah's application and validity are disscussed between members. This would of course include the festivals as they are mitzvah. I know this is huge but I do have the lists of positive and negative mizvot and their New Testament cross references. It would take a little while to type them all out but them discussion can stream from there about the individual mitzvah, so I'm willing to do that if anyone is up for it.

Maybe you have right.
When I lived in Israel for one year and was ulpan we read the Old testament in Hebrew about one week before the festivals in that book that belongs to the festivals.Then with the teacher we must explain what it meant.I special remember the book of Ruth

I would be interested in helping to teach or guide. I've had a couple of years of formal coursework in Biblical Hebrew.
