I am not the vet... yet ;P I am not a veterinary technician as I have not taken the test and all that (due to time) though I do much of the same. I have been working at the vets for over three years now and w/ such I am now alloud to do pretty much everything... 'cept surgery ;P The vet hospital I work at also has a wildlife rehab.
I take care of all the animals in the morning and evenings when I work (food, water, walk dogs, clean cage, meds if needed, etc.). I do pre-exams (weight, temp, etc.) and surgery prep (draw blood if needed, anesthetize, shave and prep, etc). I also assist the vet in surgery if need be and w/ the patients/clients. As for the wildlife I have gotten to work w/ practically every animal in the NorthWest it seems
(raccoons, skunks, possums, blue/green herons, squirrels, eagles, hawks, deer, etc.) For the wildlife most are either injured or abandoned and too young to fend for themself. We rehabilitate them and release them back into the wild.
Well, I think this sums up a bit of what I do ;P It is so much fun. I am going into my third year of college majoring in Animal Science w/ two options in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Behavior. 2 more years and I begin vet school for another 4 years.
