Why is the modern Nation of the Jews not Israel referred to in prophecy.

So many today think of the Modern Nation of the Jews as the House of Israel in Prophecy. It is not.

Im just starting to understand this about israel, Abraham issac nd jacob were hebrews , just his son judah are called jews. Any info on who or where the other 11 are. ? I heard their is a tribe of people living in the region where the 10 were exiled, apparantley near where bin laden is hiding out, they look and act and claim to be the lost. The name escapes me but its something like pathian . Ill see if i can find it again, this is making me dizzy, but its sooo fasanating.

The 10 lost tribes are spoken of by Jesus when He said that He came back for the "lost sheep of the house of Israel" in Matthew 15:24. They were scattered into all the Gentile nations or "sifted", as Amos the prophet said (Amos 9:9), but would come back or spring forth as "Sons of the Living God" after being swallowed up by the Gentile nations for many years to the point of forgetting their own name and heritage with God - becoming "loammi", not my people (Hosea 1:9-11). The house of Judah has a completely different destiny through history all they way until the house of Judah and the house of Israel are once again reunited under one head. That head is Jesus (Hosea 1:11).
Indeed, many are just coming to realize that the people who have came back as "Sons of the Living God" are those who follow after Jesus and now call themselves Christians, answering the voice of the Great Shepherd, Jesus (John 10:16). All the evidence is there when one looks at the characteristics of Ephraim, the leader of the house of Israel as the "firstborn" of God (Jer.31:9). A little search of the word "firstborn" tells us that the Church is called the "firstborn Church of God" (Hebrews 12:23), and that Jesus is the "firstborn" of many brethren. Being firstborn of God meant to receive the double portion, and it is the Holy Spirit that provokes Israel's brother, Judah, to come and realize who Messiah is (Romans 10:19; 11:11). All the pieces fit, and it is Ephraim who is the watchman over his brother Judah and comes back as a "Mighty man". All the prophecies about multiplicity and power are realized in the house of Israel, the "remnant of Jacob", that is like a "lion" among the nations or beasts of the forest (Micah 5:7-15) - a powerful nation that possesses the gates of his enemies and lives on the fat of the land. What countries have done this in the modern age and controlled the gates of their enemies for a long time - especially after WWII....? America, but like Micah continues to say, they will be humbled; having their tall images knocked down and their cities destroyed until they no longer worship the works of their own hands.
America plays a huge role in the end times, IMO, and God will call His people out of the world one last time; like a second exodus, away from the sins of the world as the Holy Spirit guides.
Being able to see the difference between the two houses of Israel is explored to great depth in Batya Wooten's book, "Who Is Israel", and it can be an aid at helping one see God's plan and covenant to Abraham and these two houses. Also, many times, the house of Israel is known as "Joseph", since Joseph was Ephraim's father. Some say that Ephraim is not represented in Revelations, but he is through his father.

Re 7:8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

This prophetic verse in Ezekiel foretells the reunion of the two houses of Israel and their "companions". The companions are those who are of the grafted in wild branches that Paul tried to explain about in his letter to the Romans. He quotes Hosea in chapter nine about how those who were sifted into the Gentiles would come forth as Sons of the living God and join once again with Judah under one head. We know this head to be Jesus, and as the house of Judah is coming to realize their Messiah, the house of Israel is coming to know that it has a rich heritage and homeland. Notice where we are to be resurrected to. Again, in Ezekiel:

Ezekial 37:16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions 17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.

Eze 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

That land is much bigger than the Israel we see on the map today. According to the Bible, it stretches from the Nile river in Egypt to the Euphrates river in Iraq.

Ge 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

That is a good question, as Judah[jews] and Israel are completely seperate Nations. In fact, I don't think there is a house of Judah anymore if Jesus took the sceptre from them?
Paul only describes 2 convenants/ 2 churches, the spiritual Israel of God and the earthly Israel/Judah
