What do some of you do about it?

I was reading the bible every day, praying nightly, and now I am faced (again) with the same dilemna that has been bothering me for years. (!) I feel like I am disappointing myself and God; and because of that, I feel unworthy, and that has left me <deflated> inside. I know I should be reading the scripture for comfort, but I just haven't wanted to.

Have any of you felt this way when you were struggling with something?

Thanks,
Wildfire

This may sound crazy to you, but works for me....

Get up about 30-45 mins earlier in the morning, grab a cup of coffee and go sit in a comfy chair and talk to God. Don't listen to worship songs, don't read your Bible - just talk to God, don't hog the conversation - preferably give Him some time to talk to you.....you can hear Him, if you listen.

You know, the grace of God is far greater than you or I can ever know. This year, I have begun to see just how great is the grace of God. He delights in you, He loves you, you are His treasured possession....and the mind-blowing thing is that, even when you have sinned for the Nth time, He doesn't stop loving you and delighting in you. His love for you is NOT dependent on how good you are - that's a lie of the enemy.

It amazes me that even though you have offended God in the biggest way you can think - His love and His grace are still there for you.

Even when I've been, what you might say, seriously out of step with God, he has done some amazing things for me and blessed me in such an amazing way that left me speechless. Then when I asked "Lord, why did you do that for me, when I'm in such a state with you?", His reply was "I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and I love you, you are My child. My blessings are not dependent on how good you are, but because you are my child and I love you". I ask you, how can you hear an answer like that, knowing the state your in, and not be moved to tears before a Holy God.

I hope I'm getting the message across - chill out with God!!!

Think on this - which father (or mother for that matter) doesn't want to bless their children, even if they've been naughty? No matter how bad or disobedient the child has been, you still love your child and still want to bless. Is God not like this?

Jesus said "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!"... the great thing is - you don't always have to ask, He blesses because He wants to bless.....so, go on, enjoy the Father's love......its REAL!!

Hey Martin thanks. You put it so very well and I know that wildfire asked the original question but your answer is reaching out further :) again thank you.
Also on scripture came to me as I read your reply:
-- New King James
Jeremiah 33:3 `Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'

I have known that verse for along time you helped revive it for me :)
