Pro's and con's of using AI in political debate.

I just don’t like being replied to with just an AI response. If you give some of your own thoughts in a reply and use ai as a tool to back up the points you are making then that’s ok but just a straight up canned response copied and pasted from google or whatever ai source is going to be ignored by me.

I come here because I have a pretty good feeling most everyone here is a real person with actual opinions. It’s much more communal and personal here than the thousands of random people replying on social media platforms. If we start replying to each other with ai answers we kill what makes a site like this worth coming to.

So, you have two views and you prefer responding only to those who identify as person using their own individual opinions. Not me.

Fair enough.

OCCASIONALLY, folks want something different than to know what others think. SOMETIMES, folks want information or analysis.

And yes, many of us like to point to references that show why we say something. I look to AI several times a day; to Google, ALEXA and my car's navigation system, as well as other places.

I could choose only to refer folks to single sources.

OPTION THREE
I could choose only to give my own opinions without giving sources supporting my conclusions.

Personally, I am capable of evaluating an analysis of a poster. Personally, I don't give much credence to I saw this one speaker or study on the internet as supporting evidence, unless I know the source. And yes, the consolidated conclusions are more likely to be better support than a single source.

I remember a few other stories where lawyers used ChatGPT or some other model to try and do their work faster and they got into hit water because the model produced references to cases that simply didn't exist.
