  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do people hate ICE...

ICE actions in Chicago spark outrage, Halloween parade canceled

Homeland Security defends ICE after confrontations in Chicago, tear gas used and a kids’ Halloween parade canceled amid arrests.

If these people would leave ICE alone and let them do their jobs none of this would be happening. Leave them the Frick alone! Quit obstructing or trying to obstruct them. Quit trying to prevent them from doing their job. That lady chasing ICE down the street got what she deserved by her actions.

A judge issued an injection that they can't use chemical agents unless they are facing harm. Blocking an intersection isn't life threatening and they fired directly into his face.
Being surrounded by people and being prevented from moving and doing your job is facing harm. The agents have no idea what anyone in this crowd is going to do. Its implied threat. The injunction wasnt for just life threatening circumstances. If you were surrounded by a crowd of people who were refusing to let you through, you would absolutely feel threatened.

Besides I couldn't find anything on a SanFrancisco judge saying they couldn't use chemical agents in theae circumstances.

My personal conspiracy theory: I dont think those are for the immigrants. They are supposed to be deporting people and blocking access to the border, not housing folks. The numbers should be going down, not increasing. Those facilities will be for the so called "enemy within" which means anyone who disagrees with his administration or policies. Or Stephen Miller's, rather.

I thought we already had FEMA camps for that? But anything’s possible.

When I thought about the article later on I noticed we weren’t hearing reports of them being deported or footage from the planes. We have a local person who covers the issue and he showed the facility before it was occupied. The windows and doors are covered and you don’t know what’s taking place inside. Sometimes it’s best to cut your losses.

Some new ICE recruits have shown up to training without full vetting

The recruits have had criminal backgrounds or failed drug tests or were unable to meet physical or academic standards, raising concerns about the agency’s rush to hire immigration officers, sources told NBC News.

ICE is struggling to hire officers — even after lowering its standards

DHS is spending millions of dollars on an aggressive television ad campaign targeting local police officers — but it's not getting nearly enough applicants.

Hedley Lamarr is not far off.

My mistake. I'm getting cities mixed up. It's Chicago.

Bounty Hunters, check.

ICE wants to unleash bounty hunters on immigrants: report

Bounty hunters are in line to become the next tool of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under a procurement document reviewed by the Intercept, the website reported Friday.

"Under the plan, bounty hunters may receive 'monetary bonuses' depending on how successfully they track down their targets — and how many immigrants they then report to ICE," the report said. "According to the document, which solicits information from interested contractors for a potentially forthcoming contract opportunity, companies hired by ICE will be given bundles of information on 10,000 immigrants at a time to locate, with further assignments provided in 'increments of 10,000 up to 1,000,000.'"

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Monday corrected a key piece of evidence it repeatedly cited in defense of President Donald Trump’s attempted military deployment in Portland, Oregon, last month.

In a letter to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Andrew Bernie, a DOJ attorney, said the Trump administration made several “errors” in describing how many special law enforcement officers it sent to Portland in response to protests outside of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in the city.

---

Attempting to prove that Trump had the authority to send troops into the city, government officials claimed 115 Federal Protection Service (FPS) officers were ordered to the city between June and September. The number represented nearly a “quarter” of the whole FPS force that protects federal facilities and employees, the government claimed in court filings.

In oral arguments and court filings, the DOJ repeatedly argued that this major reallocation of FPS officers indicated that Trump was unable to enforce federal law in Portland with regular forces and was therefore justified in calling up around 200 Oregon National Guard troops in September.

The number of FPS officials allegedly sent to Portland was a key piece that a Ninth Circuit panel relied on in determining last week that Trump had the authority to federalize and deploy Guard troops to the city.

Oregon and Portland asserted in a letter to the panel last week that the Trump administration greatly misrepresented how many FPS officers it sent. They said evidence obtained in discovery indicated that the number of FPS officers in Portland never surpassed 31 at any time.

In the department’s response letter Monday, Bernie acknowledged that, based on a review by the Department of Homeland Security, the government only sent 86 FPS officials to Portland over the summer.

Bernie added that the DOJ also incorrectly stated that a “quarter” of the entire FPS force was sent to the city.

According to DHS, the Border Patrol vehicle had been "aggressively tailgated by a red vehicle." When agents attempted to make a U-turn, the sedan collided with their car. One of the suspects then "physically assaulted" an agent by kicking and targeting his groin, prompting the officer to deliver "defensive strikes."

Absolutely uncalled for. I saw several people on that video that should have been arrested. Any one who steps in and tries to prevent an arrest should be arrested as well.

Man I hope many charges are coming.

Last year, many discussed President Trump's mass deportation policy and questioned whether Americans would support it if fully implemented. Now, as the policy is being enforced, mainstream media (MSM) covers ICE activities only sporadically. If MSM consistently showed how ICE conducts arrests—including detaining children near schools or single parents at home—public perception might change.

The mainstream media tanked in the ratings because of their false reporting. They are trying to paint ICE as negatively as they can get away with. If they now showed how ICE typically conducts arrests even more of their followers would leave.

If some viewers choose to disengage from mainstream media because they don’t like seeing law enforcement officer visiting schools or churches and arresting parents in front of their children, separating a mother from her children and taking her to an undisclosed location, using rubber bullets on Prist praying on the street, or conducting door-to-door operations in full riot gear as American marine has done in Kandahar or Bagdad at the height of the war in middle east -—So be it.

But for rest of us , we will appreciate seeing what is happening to our America.

Democrats never had consistent policy for today's immigration challenges. At times, they discuss strict deportation, but in power, actions are limited; when facing liberal opposition, they shift toward open border policies.

President W. Bush was the only president with a practical immigration policy. He aimed to strengthen borders, enforce current laws, update outdated immigration policies, and show compassion toward those who overstayed visas or entered illegally but had since worked hard and contributed to society. However, that kind of sensible policy was rejected by more than 37 Republican senators, as well as liberal senators like Bernie Sanders and a few other Democrats.

President Trump lacks a clear immigration policy and is focusing on mass deportations. When this administration's term ends, these actions are likely to cease, and the US will revert to its previous approach.

One consequence of President Trump's actions is the increasing shift of Latino voters toward the Democratic Party. There are millions of Latino supporters of Trump who have been affected by mass deportation policies. Many of these families, despite being American citizens, are impacted by the administration's stance and may be unlikely to support Republican candidates in the future. For example, it is difficult to imagine a son whose father was deported under a Republican-led administration choosing to vote for a Republican candidate later in life. Similarly, a grandfather who’s granddaughter and her mother deported due to these policies would likely hesitate to support another Republican.

A comprehensive immigration reform, similar to what W. Bush proposed, is needed to address immigration issues. We should strengthen and secure the border to prevent unauthorized entry, update asylum laws for modern needs, and revise the court system so immigrants with criminal records are denied permanent status and deported more swiftly. The process for eligible immigrants should be expedited, and we should show compassion to undocumented individuals who have lived in the U.S. for decades.

I believe most Americans support law enforcement actions like this. Posting such news seems unnecessary, as we generally agree that violent criminals and repeat offenders should be apprehended and deported.

These ICE actions are not opposed by myself or millions of other Americans; rather, we commend these efforts by law enforcement officers.

But we object LEO visiting schools or churches and arresting parents in front of their children, separating a mother from her children and taking her to an undisclosed location, using rubber bullets on Prist praying on the street, or conducting door-to-door operations in full riot gear as American marine has done in Kandahar or Bagdad at the height of the war in middle east.

It is true that ICE did enter a school in Chicago:

ICE is required to follow the law in regard to where and when they make arrests. Those who want federal law changed can work with their elected representatives in Congress.
