  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Worried about my discussion I had with my father about the lost people

I want to know if I made a big sin or not. While discussing with my father about the fate of the lost, I told (about all the lost people) or I made my father understand that (I told these words clearly) all the lost people that will be judged are evil people. Is this a sin? I became worried if I made a sin by putting the banner "evil people" on those that will be judged and punished after the last (and general) resurection.

Please don't feel too bad about this. What you said may be a bit harsh, but I don't think it was a sin. If you feel remorse about what you said, perhaps you can talk with your father again and explain more clearly what you mean; without passing judgement on those who haven't come to the Lord.

Let me say, that I'm not Eastern Orthodox, so perhaps my views are out of line. I'm sure others will respond.

I don’t think it’s a sin. I just think it’s more accurate to say that those who will be condemned are the unrepentant evil people.

but if this is a struggle, tell your priest.

I want to make myself clear. I didn't want to judge these people while discussing this with my father, but my discussion with my father fluctuated as thoughts fluctuate, so these words ("evil people") were probably spoken in my rush to make my father understand what I was talking about.
