  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It seemed so easy for the thief on the cross to be saved.

The rest of Scripture.

Perhaps you do not understand the NT usage of the word "world" or "all" as meaning, depending on how it is used, either
1) all without exception; i.e., every Jew and every Gentile (e.g., all are born objects of wrath by nature, Ehp 2:3), or
2) all without exemption; i.e., not just Jews, but both Jews and Gentiles (all are saved by faith in Christ).

Scripture does not "trump" or overturn itself.
Scriptures is 100% in agreement with itself.

Irrelevant. . .

Why did he wait 4,000 years after the Fall to send a Messiah?
First of all, I told you I do not buy into the Calvinist redefining all, all is all in those passages its the Greek word pas which means all, the total sum, never all with exception, thats a made up definition to support the Calvinist false idea that God elects some to salvation the rest to damnation, something that is contrary to scripture.
I am glad you believe that scripture is in 100% in agreement with itself, because when aion and aionios is translated correctly as age and age enduring you will see that eternal torture is not in agreement with the rest of scripture that say Jesus is the savior of the world not a potentiel savior .
Irrelevant that according to you view that all before Jesus had no idea that eternal torture was for all those who did not follow God while in the mortal body? How is that irrelevant ? I sounds rather sadistic for God not to tell humanity of that, if it were true, for over 4000 years.
What kind of loving God would do that, certainly not the Jesus who said he was the exact representation of God, Jesus while on the cross looked at those who were killing him and said Father forgive them for they know not what they do, but if they died that same day torture them forever?
I know tradition is hard to break but maybe you need to pray to the Father so he may reveal his true heart to you, and you will see his love is infinite and any limit we try to put on it will always fall short, God is light and in him is no darkness, if eternally torture is not darkness then I do not know what is.

That's not a Calvinist definition, that is a linguistic use of "all."

In relation to sin, all are born sinners.
In relation to salvation, all are saved in Christ.
Put together, "all are born sinners and all are saved in Christ," must be understood in the light of all the NT.

It has nothing to do with "Calvin redefining all". . .and everything to do with the linguistic use of "all" in the light of all the NT.

some are born after the flesh some are born after the Spirit, the children of the flesh are not counted for the promise, they are CAST OUT as example, and the children of the promise are counted, that is they which believe in the promises, as Sarah did for example, who judged God faithful who promised.

Galatians 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Romans 9:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
