  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Federal law generally prohibits depictions of living presidents on U.S. currency, but it's unclear if the design evades or violates those rules.

During Friday's White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked if Trump had seen the first draft of the coin.
  • "I'm not sure if he's seen it, but I'm sure he'll love it," she said.

I don't see that stopping him.

Based on what I'm reading, the rule of "no current presidents, and a past president has to be deceased for 2 years" rule stemmed from this:

Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005

And that particular program that the act was addressing expired in 2016

Which is why John Cornyn had to do a new bill to extend it to George HW Bush.

So it'd likely be one of those things that would be in a legal grey area depending on whether or not it was being presented as an extension of the 2005 program, or an entirely new minting run (in which case, if his allies in the legislature rammed it through under a new act, it wouldn't be in violation)

But in a general sense, I'm not crazy current or recent presidents being on currency, as it lends itself to be politically polarizing by default as controversies are still fresh in everyone's mind. Even George HW Bush being on a coin may have been too recent as some of his questionable actions are still occasionally the subject of discussion in modern partisan discourse.

...although, I guess it could be worse, we could be sticking other country's living monarchs on our currency like our neighbors to the north do lol.

…is what the president says it is.
Possibly, they know it would be illegal to actually produce, but it was worth spending taxpayer money designing it to own the libs.

The way this administration is firing its experienced lawyers makes me question whether legality figures into their thinking at all.

I can't wait! That coin will be incredible.View attachment 371066
They should replace In God We Trust with something more appropriate like:

".....I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful... I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything."

A little short, I tried to borrow a buck in a store one time from one of my sons. He said, "Dad, nobody uses cash anymore." It looks like I now have reason to join him in a cashless society.

Too wordy for a coin.

No its not too wordy! I like the idea of the whole paragraph in tiny print that makes you want to read it just to see what it is.

"covfefe" could replace "fight" on the other side.

Actually lets just do his face on one side and a QR code to a donation site on the other.
