  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The topic led “Fox & Friends” co-host Laurence Jones to say that billions of dollars have been spent on programs to care for the homeless and mentally ill but many of those afflicted resist help.

“A lot of them don’t want to take the programs,” Jones said. “A lot of them don’t want to get the help that is necessary. You can’t give them the choice. Either you take the resources that we’re going to give you, or you decide that you’ve got to be locked up in jail.”

Kilmeade added: “Or involuntary lethal injection or something — just kill ‘em.”

That isn’t surprising and I hinted at this the other day on another thread. They were evicted from mental hospitals and thrown on the street with no recourse for treatment and support. We’ve witnessed several mayors removing them from their areas and outlawing tent cities. Add in the recent legislation that impacts the homeless and others living in their cars/vans voluntarily or otherwise. It isn’t difficult to surmise how we’ve reached the point where death solves the problem and frees up resources in the process. It’s a win/win for some.

It reminds me of the movie Soylent Green from the 1970’s where they would take old people and make them into crackers. Ugh!

They were not evicted, they exercised what is now a legal right to leave even though they are not stable.

We had a lot of coverage about the issue in our city and it wasn’t voluntary. Budget cuts created the problem.

If you look at his comments at face value and remember “someone has to be first” you’ll see them in a different light. Given our philosophy of profits over people are the mentally ill the lone ones they’d consider? Once you’re comfortable ridding yourself of a demographic it isn’t difficult to do the same to other groups. Like the poor, seniors, etc.

And perhaps for some this is how we make America great again. You don’t make statements like that haphazardly.

13 people hurt in 2 mass shootings at Minneapolis homeless encampments on the same day

O'Hara said at least four of the victims had life-threatening gunshot wounds.

O'Hara said detectives are investigating the possibility that the shooting is connected to earlier gunfire at a nearby homeless encampment that left five people injured, including one in life-threatening condition. He said the earlier shooting occurred just after 11 a.m. near the intersection of East Lake Street and Stevens Avenue.

Good grief. What on earth is going on. He should be fired.

Why would you ASSUME that? There is violence at homeless camps every single day. People are shot, stabbed or beaten at these place every single day. This shooting is nothing new. These camps have so many mentally ill, addicts etc that thos stuff is rampant among them. So before you start blaming someone else for this you should find out who was involved.

The odds aee greatly in favor that it was related to the homeless themselves or some kind of drug issue.

Our mental health system in the United States is atrocious.
It's actually going to get worse. Because of budget cuts. If someone wants to kill them selves. There's not enough funds for emergency. And kids being abused , there case gets closed. Lack of funds.
