Of course. Maybe to them Iran is just a troublesome country that shouldn't have nukes.
Anyone who claims to have any concern at all for rights (or separation of church & state) should view the Iranian regime as troublesome.

I am more concerned on that point with a troublesome regime right here at home.

You're not seriously invoking a myth of equivalency here are you?

You do realize that by Iranian standards, Ted Cruz would be considered a "radical feminist" and "ardent gay rights activists" merely by the fact he thinks that gay people shouldn't be executed and women should be leave their hair uncovered.

Point of reference.

You think "conversion therapy" with regards to gay people is backwards and barbaric.

Are you familiar with Iran's pathologizing of "she doesn't want to wear a hijab" conversion therapy?

In November, authorities announced plans to open clinics “for quitting hijab removal” to provide “scientific and psychological treatment” for women and girls not complying with compulsory veiling.

See, this is what happens when people blindly oppose anything American conservatives are aligned with. (IE: "we have to take the side that opposes Israel because the republicans like Israel")

For all of these feminist and LGBTQ+ advocates here in the US -- or even something less controversial, like simply believing that a person has a right to change religions, if they had to spend even 1 week in any of the countries in the middle east, they'd be running for Tel Aviv begging to be let in.

I think that what you and what quite a few other people are continuously doing is thinking that if someone objects to an action then that automatically means that you support all the actions of the agrieved party.

The national Guard and the Marines should not have been called in.
Oh, so you support people burning cars and throwing rocks at police?

Israel is responsible for tens of thousands of innocent deaths.
Oh, so you support what Hamas did?

You can't deport anyone without recognising due process.
Oh, so you support these drug dealing murderous rapists?

Bombing Iran was a stupid thing to do.
Oh, so you support their human rights abuses?

Anyone who thinks to use that level of 'argument' has lost the debate before it begins.

Israel's entire premise for starting this war with Iran was their nuclear program. Since the Hamas attack in 2023, Israel has exchanged fire with Iran at least once, but did not use "nuclear weapons" as a reason. They (and Iran) also chose to limit their escalation in those instances. (And whether through direct means or via proxies, Iran has felt no restraint in attacking a state with nukes.)
Israel started no war. Iran has been attacking Israel and the United through its proxies for decades.

Well, the US isn't subject to the ICC and wasn't a signatory to the Rome Statute...

So "what the ICC thinks" is of no consequence to US foreign policy decisions.

Not saying that Trump made the right decision here...in fact, I think it was a bad move to give them two weeks, and then go into strike mode 2 days later.

That being said, the entire concept of "international law" is borderline farcical.

It's basically nothing more than:
"A bunch of countries who underspend on their own defense, and assume the US and UK will step up to the plate if they ever get hit, wagging their fingers at US policy decisions from a place of faux authority"
the ICC is not the entirety of international law. There is also (and most relevant here) the various treaties, conventions, UN Charter, etc., related to the international law of war.

Tulsi Gabbard testified so in front of congress not so long ago (March 2025).
A lot has happened in Iran since March of 2025.

Iran has been a problem for 45 years, but nothing has substantially changed. Things flare up then go back down. Whether it be some sabre rattling with a neighbor, actual military action with neighbors, funding/supplying a proxy group or government, or shouting loudly about how evil America is, etc. It's a never ending cycle that is only going to end when the Iranian people finally have enough of it. There was a protest movement against the regime 3 years ago, but it has been suppressed.

No, no I can not see that. Calling out my presidents actions that I see as wrong is not synonymous with defending the actions of Iran no matter how incapable you are are of seeing the distinction. I am fully on board with Iran not having nuclear weapons while at the same time calling out the president for his unilateral action. It is to bad you fail to see the distinction.
Left unchecked by Israel and Trump Iran would have the weapons you say you are against. You can’t have it both ways. No other countries are capable or willing do have done what was necessary.

Shiites who have a slightly different story, expecting the 12th Imam to appear to fight the AntiChrist, with Jesus then returning to "judge both the quick and the dead."
Within Shia Islamic belief, the destruction of Israel is considered a necessary precursor for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, also known as the Mahdi
.
Key Points:
  • Twelver Shia Belief: The Mahdi, who is believed to be the 12th Imam in hiding, will reappear at the end times to restore justice and establish a global Islamic state.
  • Israel as an Obstacle: Some hardline clergy affiliated with the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) claim that religious hadiths (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad) state that the "Jewish state" (referring to Israel) must be destroyed before the Mahdi's return.
  • The Mahdi's Actions: It is believed that the Mahdi will lead military operations against "tyrannical dictators" in the region and destroy them, eventually conquering Jerusalem and establishing his rule there. Islamic tradition also depicts the Mahdi leading an army to reconquer Israel for Islam and fighting against Jews, leading to a significant decrease in the Jewish population.

(wow what a long read)

So the US with the "act of undeclared war" might be starting a world war ... maybe ... if the actions regarding Ukraine weren't enough. Maybe he'll mess with Taiwan after this.

Iran’s anti-West protests exploded again on Friday as thousands of demonstrators set US and Israeli flags ablaze in Tehran, chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”
The massive outpouring followed Friday prayers, with crowds lining Tehran’s streets, brandishing Hezbollah flags and portraits of slain commanders hit in recent Israeli missile strikes. One banner read, “I will sacrifice my life for my leader,” reflecting the fervor uniting the demonstrators behind Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

I hope this left no doubt as to Iran's intentions toward America.
Isn't that exactly what would be expected from people that had been bombed?

Exactly. They have fallen into the same trap we have about Israel--letting religious fantasies drive their foreign policy.

Only the fanatics and those that are forced via the regime in Iran attend such demonstrations...
