Sabine has chosen to use her platform to get rage clicks from anti-science people and has repeatedly encourage their viewership and make her money. Videos that are used by anti-science people to say "angry science lady says scientists are evil/greedy/whatever" (it's already in this thread). In other videos (and I didn't spot it in this one) she goes from "particle physics is a waste to academic science is corrupt and wasteful in the same sentence. After reading the letter she spends the rest of her time (before the ad) libeling groups people and attacking two HEP experiments/facilities (DUNE and EIC), calling them make-work projects pursing made up problems. She's capable of reading the science cases for both and understanding them. The old Sabine would be explaining what could be discovered and what questions will be addressed even if she thought one of the public facing reasons was hype.

She knows how her videos will be used and she doesn't care or worse, she likes it.

That could be a case of what I decades ago characterized as "the moderate critic being moved to the extreme by the over-reaction of the entrenched."

I've been listening to her videos for a while now, and there certainly does appear to be a problem she's bringing to the forefront. You can ignore the problem because you don't like her or you can listen to see if there isn't a point to what she's saying.

I never thought that I'd see a Sabine Hossenfelder video that would violate the CF Guidelines, but today's YT! video certainly does that in spades. So without linking it directly I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts on it are.

I don't think that someone on youtube needs to abide by CF guidelines.

After listening to it, I think it's a valid opinion and had just the right amount of swear words (which were even bleeped out) to convey the emotions. Then again, I'm german, so my threshold for swearing is different than that of people from the USA.

The only thing that detracted from it was the in-video advertisement at the end. I get that youtube content creators need to make money, especially when they demonitise themselves with copious swear words.

As an aside:

I saw almost the same observation in a golfing YouTube I was watching the other day.
One brother, (of a two brother combination), stated to his sibling after his brother's bad shot, words to the effect of:

'Good people do good golf shots. Bad people do bad golf shots'.


(All more evidence supporting the MDR hypothesis too, I might add ..)

This one is weird, in the first half of the video Sabine looks as it she is auditioning for a part in the Walking Dead, the music then stops and rest of the video becomes a more serious attempt to explain light.

I made the mistake of watching one of her "songs" at the end of one of her videos a while back. I won't make that mistake again.
