• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

What is a gift from The Father
John 6:44:
"No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."

The faith to believe unto salvation is a free gift from God the Father.
He leads us to His Son and with that tiny bit of faith to believe in Him, we can gain eternal life.

I, too, have had powerful compulsions to repeat normal daily actions, and I know what it's like to get stuck checking locks or burners or whatever you are driven to repeat.
Jesus, who is in you if you have invited Him in, can break that senseless pattern that is so distracting from living a normal life.
Choose Jesus and watch things change.

John 6:44 does not say faith is a gift, it is addressing the drawing of the Father. Every person has the ability to exercise faith in something. Some in science, some in other religions, etc...... and then there are people who have faith in The God of The Bible.

The free gift is Eternal Life and this is given when a person believes in Jesus.

In the sense that at birth God gave everyone (unless they have some birth defect) the ability to exercise faith in something. Little kids do, when they believe in Santa Claus, many do when they believe in evolution, etc...

d Taylor, perhaps if you took another look at Ephesians chapter 2, Jesus will help clear up the confusion that has you concerned.
All good things come from God. Faith isn't an exception.

My oppologies. I misunderstood you original post.

That is ok, i am not OCD, but i have seen many times on here where people post that are OCD and really doubt if they are saved.

So i came across this podcast when i was on Grace Evangelicals website and thought the podcast might help someone with OCD.

Hello, I've had severe OCD for a long time and I just listened to the podcast. Would somebody define or describe Easy Believism to me?
I'm so sorry to hear that you have severe OCD. Do you currently have any help or support for your OCD, or access to good resources for it?

I have a psychiatrist and take meds. I've done some reading, both online and in books. I recently sought to find a Christian therapist specializing in religious OCD in my area, but did not readily locate any. Though I have mentioned my OCD in previous posts in this forum, this is the first time I've posted here.

I'm glad you have some help available. I know that online coaching is available at Scrupulosity.com: Faith-based Solutions for Religious OCD - Scrupulosity.com, and there are also a lot of good blog articles there. There are also a lot of resources about scrupulosity at OCD and Scrupulosity - ACCFS and Mark DeJesus. I have also found the following books to be helpful... Breaking Free of OCD: My Battle With Mental Pain and How God Rescued Me by Jeff Wells, and Strivings Within - The OCD Christian: Overcoming Doubt in the Storm of Anxiety by Mitzi VanCleve.

Easy believism is a name coined by people who believe in works salvation. To attack God's way God has established for a person to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life by belief in Jesus.

They (work salvation people) say it takes more than belief in Jesus to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life salvation. Which is a lie.
