And there is no indication he has any experience doing so, or knows enough about the organization to be able to provide guidance on policy.
I’m pretty sure he’s supervised people.

What makes you think so? He has no experience running a health insurance system.
Dr. Oz wants a healthier senior population which could greatly cut the costs. He could, for example, allow seniors free memberships in health clubs. And maybe have some incentives to use those health clubs.
President Trump may choose Hulk Hogan, a senior, to head fitness for the nation and together they might implement programs that could delay heart disease and diabetes for the senior population.

QFT -

Xavier Becerra has zero background in medicine.

But the current head of CMS is Chiquita W. Brooks-LaSure.
He has as much experience as the current head. And he’s a doctor.
Less as Chiquita W. Brooks-LaSure has worked in public health and Medicaid specifically, so far more actual experience and relevant education than Dr. Oz.

And I said that the current director had not experience prior to getting the job. I don’t recall hearing complaints from either side.
But that's not true. The current head of CMS most certainly did have experience in public health as a researcher and lead Medicaid analysis.

Because it annoys the crap out of the Left.
Yeah, that's an excellent reason to appoint people into positions. Much better than relevant experience and institutional knowledge. Drawback is that he really ought not to hawk any products he has a vested interest in.

From what I've read so far, no one on team Trump has signed the ethics agreements to even begin to learn about any agencies they may lead.

Whenever any candidate goes to great lengths to hide information, my immediate reaction is to assume it's very bad--especially when the physical evidence is weightier than reported.

Boy, you must have been really incensed when Biden collapsed on the national debate stage after the entire government and media elite tried to gaslight everyone into believing he was "sharp as a tack". Talk about going to great lengths to hide information!

For instance, he has been publicly called out by the FDA for "irresponsible and misleading" claims about levels of arsenic in apple juice. ''

The FDA has some nerve calling out people for making "irresponsible and miselading" claims. After all, this is the same agency that approved Vioxx, which caused countless heart problems and killed thousands of people. Or Phenylephrine, which doesn't actually work. Or Aducanumab at the cost of $56k annually based on surrogate endpoints that show no true clinical benefit. The list goes on.

The FDA is beyond broken.

This doesn't speak specifically to Dr. Oz. I'm not super thrilled with the nomination. But it's remarkably hypocritical for the FDA to pretend like they care about responsible and accurate claims when they are fully captured.

Which isn’t administrative.

Chiquita was a Congressional staffer for a number of years. I prefer someone with medical education and training to head Medicare.

“Health clubs” are just going to allow people to wander in to use their facilities/equipment for free?
Sure, why not?

No. The government can negotiate a steep discount, particularly since seniors will not be expected to be heavy users of health clubs. It can be a benefit of Medicare. Just like the government can negotiate drug prices for 66 million seniors on Medicare.

I didn’t have socialized-health-clubs on my bingo card, but okay.

This already exists, at least with some Medicare plans; see Silver Sneakers.
