  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump is toxic

Is this like "toxic masculinity"?

Because I don't think either are toxic. What's 'toxic' is people running around calling their fellow human beings "toxic" because you have a personality conflict of some sort.

I vote for keeping feminist tropes out of politics.

You approve? Even his admission of sexual assault in the Access Hollywood interview?

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others ... But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen."

"Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven."

Why do Christians insist on doing the opposite of what their Christ commands them? And then get so defensive when called on the hypocrisy?

This is why some many people have issues with modern Christianity in the US. Be disruptive in public, do it in a religious manner for a political purpose. Then, when faced with the mildest and most normal of consequences, cloak yourself in religious outrage and use it as a political point scoring exercise.

They are murdering children in the womb as a matter of public policy.

Therefore, reminding people of the Lordship of Christ at such an occasion as they celebrate death is appropriate.

At some point, we have to leave the closet and touch the culture around us - ESPECIALLY when they celebrate death so publicly.

This is the place our children and grandchildren have to grow up in and it's clearly past time for Christians to be Christian everywhere... Few in America know Christ and it's public policy to murder the innocent.

Time to share Christ here. Time to witness here.

I guess for the same reason I am explaining mockery of one’s faith for a perceived humorous moment.
It's kind of perverse to me, actually that they chose to heckle by invoking Jesus.

Why do Christians insist on doing the opposite of what their Christ commands them? And then get so defensive when called on the hypocrisy?

For many people of faith the answer is found already in our sacred texts. Jesus said there would be false messiahs and false prophets who would deceive even God's own people. The New Testament is full of warnings about false teachers, false prophets, false shepherds; about wolves in sheep's clothing, about those who exploit religion for selfish gain, those who use religion to entice, deceive, corrupt, and do evil. In many cases using it in very loud bombastic language, such as saying that those who trust lies will be so utterly deceived as to be in a state of total spiritual delusion--and the warnings are consistently directed toward Christians, toward the Christian Church.

For many of us who subscribe to Christianity, these things go well beyond political, moral, or even doctrinal; but are deeply spiritual.

St. Augustine of Hippo once said that rather than worrying about who the future Antichrist may be, the deeper concern is that we ourselves don't end up as an antichrist.

If I went to a Trump rally and was disruptive, say by me doing the same thing, yelling "Jesus is Lord", and I got kicked out. Would you be just as upset?

Or would you apply a different standard?

Because I'm pretty confident I'd be kicked out of a Trump rally if I did that. I suspect the crowd would probably boo me too. To be 100% honest, I suspect that I'd be putting myself in danger if I did that.

JD Vance said that school shootings are an unfortunate reality that we have to live with.

We could do something about it. Most of the civilized world has done something about it.

Why are people in the Republican Party unwilling to do something about it, and instead, choose policies which promote the death of children?

It's because the Republican Party is not pro-life.

We need Christians to be Christians everywhere, not just when it is convenient.

Jesus is ALWAYS Lord.

At Vance's rally it got the person who shouted a "That's right. Jesus is King" response.

I don't think Trump is going to be kicking people out for saying Christ is King.. even shouted while he was speaking, as happened to both Harris and Vance.

Shouting Christ is King is cheered at a MAGA event.

You really should listen to the full statements in context...

There was nothing wrong with what he said, in its full context.

Since that's already been argued out why not stay on topic.

Lies.. I'm a woman - I actually do know what most women act like around wealthy men. Not stupid.
? oh, you mean it wasn't assault because they wanted it? I have to leave this. It is making me sick.
But this is where we end up talking about Trump, in the gutter.

And responded to with derision by Harris herself at a Harris event.
It surprises me when Christians still say they don't know which one to vote for.

The proof is in the pudding.
So it couldn’t possibly be that they actually think Jesus is Lord and used it that way, right?

Because showboating like this isn't done for the sake of the audience; it's done to stroke the ego of the person doing the showboating.
How do you know that’s what that person was doing?
