You see a smaller but closer object covering up a larger but much further away object.

They are using the gifts and abilities that God gave them to discover more about the world, and universe that he has made. Some of them may even be coming to faith as a result - think of that; scientists and astronomers becoming Christians, just as you are. And all because they have been studying, or investigating, the world that God made.

And your response is to call them liars, fairy tale tellers and deluded people and mock with laughing emojis.
You may not understand what they do or what they have discovered, but surely you can admit that Scripture says that creation points to God and declares his glory - and that some people are finding that out for themselves.

If my thumb can cover the whole moon (even if its much smaller), from my perspective, so also a much smaller moon can cover a bigger sun, from our perspective.

Because there is no logical reason why you can claim that something like the firmament exists when just in the last 100 years, it's been shown conclusively by flight and space flight that it doesn't exist.

Looking out of my window I can see a TV aerial.
If I hold my thumb horizontally, a certain distance away, I can completely blot out that aerial. If I go up onto the roof and hold my thumb against the aerial, my thumb is only a tiny part of what I see. On the roof I am much nearer, therefore the aerial seems much bigger than my thumb - which, of course, it is.

I have no reason not to accept the people who have actually studied God's creation over some random no-name on the internet who just wants to act like a contrarian for the most... strange reason ever, religious or otherwise.

Yes they are, this is logical.

You know, even though this isn't a Biblical/spiritual matter, there is one verse which, I think, applies here: "we live by faith and not by sight", 2 Corinthians 5:7.
What Paul is saying here is that in the Christian life we can't always rely on what we see, understand, feel and so on - e.g we don't FEEL God's presence but we believe he is with us. We may not FEEL his love, but we believe that he loves us.

It seems to me that, when it comes to the shape of the earth, people live by sight. "I can SEE the sun and moon are the same size; therefore they are." "The moon doesn't LOOK a long way away; therefore it isn't." "I can't feel the earth rotating..... so therefore it isn't."
In this area, at least, you are living entirely by your feelings and senses. And they, for some reason, are taking precedence over people who have been into space, to the moon and seen with their own eyes and touched with their own hands.
Going back to my first example, I can sit here at my desk, blot out the aerial on the roof opposite and then shout to my neighbour, "hey, my thumb is bigger than your tv ariel; isn't that cool?" He, of course, knows perfectly well that it's not. Even unscientific little old me knows perfectly well that it is not, and it can be easily proved.

But your senses tell you differently so you rely on them and ignore anything else.

This verse - and the one in Romans - say that the heavens declare God's glory; people can see the power, and glory, of God by looking at what he has made.
Scientists and astronomers do just that. And it is a fact that some have said that the more they study the skies, the stars, creation and the natural world, the more they have come to believe that there is a Creator behind it all. Or that it deepens the faith that they already have.
Some of these people - who may have previously been atheists - are proving God's word to be true; the heavens, stars, planets, the moon etc are declaring God's glory - to them.

So why would you mock them - call them deluded freemasons, liars, fairy storytellers?
Why wouldn't you want to rejoice that, maybe previously sceptical, scientists are turning to God, finding faith and praising Him for his creation?

I can only conclude that you don't believe your signature. Your truth - that the earth is flat - does fear investigation. People have investigated, and photographed the earth from space. Anyone can clearly see that it is a globe, which contradicts your belief. You don't like that, so you mock it and slander those involved in such studies.

If they were as close as you claim (although you never give an actual distance) then their size would increase and decrease as they passed from rising to setting due to perspective. Since their size does not change, it proves they are not close as you claim.
