And they have caused too much stress upon the citizens of Springfield, Ohio while also putting unnecessary stress on the resources of that small city.
Too much stress? How? By helping the town revitalise by filling jobs?

This video was posted in another thread, below was my response to it:

The host in the video starts off saying that "15,000 Haitians were imported" into Springfield by VP Harris; he then plays a clip of Trump saying "dogs and cats being eaten" in Springfield, and the host goes on to say that "people" are calling the cops to report that Haitians are "eating the geese" in the city. The host then says "VP Harris sent 20,000 Haitians" to Springfield and follows with a recording of Trump saying 20,000 "illegal Haitian immigrants" descended on the town of Springfield.

Not one bit of that is true! It's all lies with the intent of demonizing Haitians and causing division in our country.

As for the interviews with the residents from Springfield and those speaking out at the city council meeting, yes, the city is struggling to cope with the sudden influx of so many people, and there are problems resulting from that. There are, of course, going to be people living in Springfield who experience these issues firsthand, and some will be upset or even angry about it. That's expected to be expected.
The lies:
  • 15,000 Haitians were imported into Springfield by VP Harris
  • Dogs and cats are being eaten in Springfield
  • People are calling the cops to report that Haitians are eating the geese in the city
  • VP Harris sent 20,000 Haitians to Springfield
  • 20,000 illegal Haitian immigrants descended on the town of Springfield
The truth:

VP Harris didn't send 20,000 Haitians to Springfield, nor were they imported into the city. The Haitians migrated their over the past few years because they heard about the jobs that were available and the low cost of living.

Dogs and cats are not being eaten in Springfield and people are not calling the police and reporting that geese are being eaten in Springfield.

The Hattians in Springfield are not in the country illegally.

If that's the case....I hope you understand it's an honest mistake. There's too many places named springfield in the US let alone ohio....and ever since this became a media frenzy, it is a bit difficult to parse out the stories legitimately from the morass repetitive propaganda. Nonetheless....

I watched this city council meeting....or whatever it was officially called. 2 hours of it. It's almost 100% local residents telling horror stories about the Haitians. Their driving, the inability access the hospital ER (which the Haitians use for free) and yes....stories of ducks from the local pond (not some hunting area) grabbed and decapitated in front of children, roadkill picked up off the street for food, etc.

If you understand the situation where these Haitians came from....and what they had to endure....it's not at all unreasonable or unrealistic to take the locals at their word of what they have claimed to witness. I can probably find the same meeting on video, if you like, but it is long....and I don't normally post 2+ hour videos because (let's just face it) nobody watches those.

Is that really what you think is happening?

You don't think it's a bit naive?

Do you have any idea how much government assistance they are taking up both directly, and indirectly through schools and healthcare?

If they were 100% employed....and we can be sure they aren't....there's simply no way they're adding more than they are taking.

Ah, so that's the real issue here, someone poached some geese?

You keep saying "poached some geese" as if they went out in a duck blind and sat there with a 12 gauge, some birdshot, and a couple of retrievers for a weekend of hunting.

They went to the local park, found geese or ducks so tame they expected people to feed them, grabbed them by the neck and decapitated them. Nobody is calling the police on legit hunters that are legally hunting. They're eating roadkill off the road. They going to the grocery store....eating out of the containers and throwing them on the ground or shelf.

They aren't setting up their first Michelin star restaurant.

And no....the geese and roadkill aren't really my biggest concern. It's probably disturbing to the locals and a bit traumatizing for the children....but they're literally taking welfare benefits to the degree that local elderly residents and those in most need are struggling to access them. They don't know how to drive....and are a serious threat to anyone near a road or driving on one. They're getting loans for housing....somehow....and I don't have to look back any further than 2008 or 2022 to figure out why they're getting loans despite not having the ability to afford a down payment or have any credit.

Driving permits are issued by the states.

I'm not going to pretend to know who sets the rules for that regarding a very specific group of people allowed into the nation by the federal government.

You shouldn't either.

I don't even know if what they have is exactly a driving permit....since it appears to be a piece of paper and must be obtained every 45 days.

Thousands of Haitians weren't dropped on Springfield. They started arriving in Springfield in 2018 seeking jobs and a low cost of living. The numbers grew each year after that.

For folks that like to remind everyone that Jim Crow wasn't the distant past and still effects everyone....you make it sound as if 2018-2024 is a long time to see a small town increase by about a third of its 2018 population.

If you lived in a city of 60,000....and suddenly a foreign population of 20,000 of any kind (let alone one as far in difference between the culture of Haiti and ours) would be devastating to the local population.

Their immigration status.

There's no "immigration status" check when you register to vote in Ohio....or any state.

There's simply a box declaring yourself a citizen and you're good to go. You'll notice how hard Democrats in Congress are currently fighting to keep it that way.

Well I’m glad a billionaire like Trump is here to knock them down a bit.

You seem to be taking his statements on the people as something unique to them and not something that can be found anywhere in a failed state as desperate as that.

You know what happened when Soviet Russia sealed off the borders of the Ukraine and demanded 100% of their grain crop? They ate wild animals, then pets, then children, then neighbors.

I understand you may live a sheltered life and have no idea how bad things can get and how quickly it can happen....

Or maybe the left's new infatuation with seeing everything through the eyes of a racist has you seeing racism even where it doesn't exist.

The people of that town are being devastated....and they aren't billionaires. They aren't benefiting from this either. I'm sure there's some racists....but black and white people have been living side by side in NE Ohio for a long time. These people aren't upset about skin color. Haiti hasn't been a prosperous nation for a long time. It would be a stretch to say it had several decades where it was doing "kinda ok". It's been a difficult place to live for most of its modern existence. These are a tough people from a very foreign culture....and more recently, extremely dire circumstances.

I was just thinking to myself the other day “you know who has it really good in life? Refugees fleeing a failed state.”

I wish I could give you a feel good lie about an easy solution to this problem like Harris would. It's unfortunate. It's a shame. It's also not our responsibility.

You believe in global climate change just like I do....so try to understand the fact that basically everyone near the equator is likely going to be in various failed or failing states and they all can't come here or Europe. In fact, that is just speeding up the climate change problem. They're using far more energy and resources now than they did in Haiti.

And the sad part? Asylum is actually for people from places that are as bad as Haiti. Unfortunately, there's these idiots willing to extend it to anyone who walks across our border. Quit voting for them....deport everyone who doesn't deserve it....and maybe then we'd be able to actually help the Haitians fleeing their lawless nation.

But if you're willing to be honest with yourself....we've let in far too many people far too fast after an economic crisis to be of any real help. These Haitians will eventually stop receiving welfare....and they won't be citizens. If you want to know what to expect then, consider what happens to basically every immigrant group that's struggling to assimilate and has the charity of white liberals pulled out from under them once their cause is no longer in fashion (remember when you "cared" about the jews in Charlottesville or the black people marching for BLM?) they'll be left in a worse position than when they started.

If you want a recent example, look up how the Haitian gangs in south Florida formed and ended up.

Oh no, children going to schools! How horrible! Which, if they are going to the public schools, the Haitians are paying through taxes that they pay to the community.
If they were 100% employed....and we can be sure they aren't....there's simply no way they're adding more than they are taking.
Are native born Americans 100% employed? If not, then the point is just silly and made only specifically against this group of legal migrants. And yes, they can be adding more than taking. From what the local officials are saying, the influx of people did help the community that was dying before. They did the moves needed, attracting more business and then people to work for those businesses.

You're missing the point of my post.

Trump is threatening to deport Haitians that are in the country legally. Most of whom are hard workers, contributing to the revitalization of a once dying city; they are filling churches that were struggling to attract new members and starting churches of their own. They are trying their best to assimilate and be good citizens. In recent days, these people have been slandered and dehumanized by a man who wants to hold the highest office in the land. Will you remain silent? Will you let his lies go unchallenged? Will you vote for this man and give him the opportunity to follow through with his threats? If he is successful, who will be his next target?
Yes, in fact I have every intendation of voting for that man likely on 10-14-24 during early voting.

If you think disparaging people by accusing them of eating peoples pets isn't racist I'm not sure how to help you.
It is not racist because it is ot the skin color we have a problem with. If the issue were say people coming from Germany which is largely white we would have the same issue. Japan ( Aisa) we would have the same issue.

I bet if there were a bunch of white immigrants ending up here because of a horrible situation the presidential candidate wouldn't be accusing them of eating peoples pets and proffering the solution of deporting them to Venezuela.
He may or may not ( probably not) but even if he did not that does not mean that we would not hae an issue with it in other words we are not being racist with this issue.

Re: Hazelponi
I don't want to see people destroy my nation either. That's why I'm voting Harris/Walz/democracy.
Refugee status is legal immigration. Let's show our legal Haitian immigrants the respect they deserve.
but there still are caps for a reason we cannot just take everyone. There are also other requirements other than just well our country is messed up.
