Facts are still coming in about the 20,000 Hatians that overwhelmed Springfield.

You seem anxious to not look too deep.
I have done quite a bit of research on this subject since it came to light and made a rather indepth post yesterday that can be found here.

No evidence of August claim that Haitians took geese at Springfield park

A man called Clark County law enforcement dispatchers Aug. 26, alleging four Haitians were carrying geese in their hands. The call audio does not indicate whether the geese were alive or dead, but says it happened within the city of Springfield, near the bike trail along Buck Creek, near Water Street. The audio was first posted Tuesday night on X by Donald Trump Jr.

A “call detail report” from the Clark County Communications Center documents that call. It does not indicate that law enforcement officials ever found the geese, or found the four Haitians that the caller mentioned, to confirm the truth of the report. It says law enforcement eventually suggested the caller contact the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Clark County Commissioner Sasha Rittenhouse said Wednesday morning that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources was unable to find any merit to the claim.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Scott Cultice said at Wednesday’s meeting that he and another employee at the Clark County Combined Dispatch Center went through 11 months of call records Tuesday to check for reports on these matters, and the Aug. 26 call was the only one he was able to verify that had been made. He said that call ended up referred to ODNR.

Rittenhouse said she rode with an ODNR staffer last Thursday to look into some claims about Haitian immigrants stealing and eating geese and ducks, and learned that nothing came out of the call, with there being no evidence.

Flax Wilt said Wednesday morning that false claims lead to a waste of resources, and the Aug. 26 call led an officer to be dispatched on a “literal wild goose chase.”

"Rittenhouse said she rode with an ODNR staffer last Thursday to look into some claims about Haitian immigrants stealing and eating geese and ducks, and learned that nothing came out of the call, with there being no evidence."

Gee, the suspects weren't there several days later, geese in hand, waiting for the police to apprehend them? What happened to those geese? Do you think maybe the suspects ate them?

Apparently they weren't there at the time of the call either.

Clark County officials say that was only call to the dispatch center on this subject in 11 months; add that law enforcement and ODNR found no evidence.

You don't see the problem with politicians spewing lies about immigrants and anti-immigrant propaganda to a national audience, or the danger in them doing that?

I didn't see that happen. We must have been watching different programs ...

The host in the video starts off saying that "15,000 Haitians were imported" into Springfield by VP Harris; he then plays a clip of Trump saying "dogs and cats being eaten" in Springfield, and the host goes on to say that "people" are calling the cops to report that Haitians are "eating the geese" in the city. The host then says "VP Harris sent 20,000 Haitians" to Springfield and follows with a recording of Trump saying 20,000 "illegal Haitian immigrants" descended on the town of Springfield.

Not one bit of that is true! It's all lies with the intent of demonizing Haitians and causing division in our country.

As for the interviews with the residents from Springfield and those speaking out at the city council meeting, yes, the city is struggling to cope with the sudden influx of so many people, and there are problems resulting from that. There are, of course, going to be people living in Springfield who experience these issues firsthand, and some will be upset or even angry about it. That's expected to be expected.

The amount is in dispute and has been reported as high as 30,000.
It's probably closer to 15,000 which is still huge in a town that size. I noticed that that's the only thing you addressed from the video

About 13 years ago while out walking at our lunch break, a co-worker and myself stopped an Asian
man from throwing stones at a Canadian Goose. They in fact ate them.

I don't have a problem with hunting legally, but to make an animal suffer needlessly is against my
way of thinking.

BTW, I have to give MA Governor Maura Healy credit for how she has handled the illegal immigration crisis.

As I told a person I know, I think she's doing a good job on this. What else could she do when thousands
showed up all of a sudden?

The only think I fault her on is not criticizing President Biden on this. Biden is the cause of all
the illegals who have entered the country, no two ways about it.

There were five lies being pushed in the video that I included in that paragraph.

The lies:
  • 15,000 Haitians were imported into Springfield by VP Harris
  • Dogs and cats are being eaten in Springfield
  • People are calling the cops to report that Haitians are eating the geese in the city
  • VP Harris sent 20,000 Haitians to Springfield
  • 20,000 illegal Haitian immigrants descended on the town of Springfield
The truth:

VP Harris didn't send 20,000 Haitians to Springfield, nor were they imported into the city. The Haitians migrated their over the past few years because they heard about the jobs that were available and the low cost of living.

Dogs and cats are not being eaten in Springfield and people are not calling the police and reporting that geese are being eaten in Springfield.

The Hattians in Springfield are not in the country illegally.

There is a confirmed photo of a possible Haitian man that was carrying a goose. That picture is from Columbus, Ohio. The federalist story link here though takes you to an audio from rumble. I could not find a mainstream media source though some others are reporting this allegedly breaking story. It could be fake news, though the Ohio Attorney General is now on record that one Springfield claim of a animal complaint is true.

This "fact checking" is garbage. A lack of evidence does not make a claim untrue. To know with certainty you would have to have cameras at every meal eaten in Springfield in the last months. So discrediting a claim that is unknown and presenting it as a fact is simply media bias. Proper logic would be to look and see if Haitians eat dogs, cats, etc there. If it is as common as it is in some Asian countries then the probability is high the practice might be included in Haitian communities in the USA. So the fact is that most fact checkers are dumb because they either fail in logic at times or they fail by being politically motivated, or both.

I have little doubt if Taylor Swift lived in Springfield on a regular lot, she would worry about letting her cats roam free. I can't of course prove a hypothetical but if she or anyone loves their cats and it is indeed a Haitian practice then anyone might be fearful of letting a beloved animal be free.
We can't believe pictures posted, we can not believe what is "reported" necessarily ... if the "pet thing" is true there will likely start being more reports about it. It can't be fully dismissed as a possibility because of our knowledge of Haitian culture.

We are in the dark until there is more light on the matter.

There are other towns like Springfield. I know a couple of communities in Florida with the same ratio or more of Haitians. If they migrate more slowly there is better assimilation. At least not so many new drivers. Here is a report on a town in kansas, that in about 20 years got a Hispanic majority. Fact is this will continue. The authors of the kansas piece (2008) do not suggest many issues though admittedly crimegrade.org ranks them below average for various types of crime today. (A great source if you ever buy a home and wonder about a certain neighborhood) https://www.researchgate.net/profil...inority-to-Majority-in-Garden-City-Kansas.pdf
Trump and harris both need more policy details. Trump is lucky too that Harris did not ask him what professors from Wharton is was referring too. Could he name even one? Trump should have asked her what economists thought the 25K tax credit would do to home prices.

The lies:
  • 15,000 Haitians were imported into Springfield by VP Harris
This needs a little explanation. From the Springfield News-Sun

"Status extended by feds

Most Haitians are here legally, making their way from a violent and gang-ruled island homeland to Mexico.

Katie Kersh, senior attorney with Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, said many Haitians coming here go to Mexico and get a CBP One, a mobile app that allows users to request appointments related to immigration. That allows them to be legally processed into the U.S. through what’s called the parole program. They then typically obtain Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, which allows them to temporarily stay in the country. Others may apply for asylum, which is evaluated based on a person’s individual situation and if they were persecuted or have a fear of persecution, or for both TPS and asylum."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In other words, the Haitian immigrants get a mobile app on their phones in Mexico, which allows them to get an appointment with
the courts. This allows them to be legally processed into the US through the app. They get a TPS via the US Federal Government.
As I understand it, the US Government change the rules for applying for asylum when Biden took office.
They go to Springfield from Mexico because they have relatives and friends there, who will help them get a job.
Of course the businesses in Springfield hire them at minimum wage, because Haitian immigrants are willing to live in
apartments with multiple families. The citizens of Springfield live with one family in an apartment and as a result, can't
survive on minimum wages.

In other words, before Biden, they would be illegally in the US. But because the rules changed, they now hold a legal status while
waiting to go to court. In the past, 80% of immigrants who applied for asylum, never showed up at the court date they were given.
Why would they, when there's a chance, they'll be sent back to the country they came from?

But they're here so the only humane thing to do is help them and this is what Catholic Charities does, not only in Springfield,
but across the nation.
