Guns can be used for target practice, and some more than others are designed for better accuracy for this purpose, but they are still deadly weapons designed to inflict bodily harm or to kill.Neither are firearms. They're designed for target practice.
This is true, but a firearm is specifically designed to be a deadly weapon. This is why they are regulated and other items that can be used as a weapon are not.Fact of the matter is that anything can be used as a weapon, if the intent is to use it as a weapon.
There's a flea market in my town, and on any given weekend there will be one or more individuals selling guns. I can go there this coming Saturday and walk away with a gun with no questions asked and no background check if I want to. A few sellers may ask if I live in North Carolina, but that would be it.I've never been to a gun show where there were guns for sale from anyone but a FFL holder; and every time that I've purchased from them I've had to submit to a NICS check as required by law.
