"a lot of it is literally not true?" is probably a stretch. Much depends on how one interprets a passage or section, the Bible can be inerrant and contain passages that are intended to be taken allegorically or instructive and not as history, but some people choose to view it as literal, compromising its integrity.
In ancient texts those different forms are not easily separable. In particular, if you are going to regard a text as historical you have to understand how history was written by the culture which produced the text. The accuracy of detail which we regard as necessary in historical writing today is a modern convention. Trying to impute it to an ancient historical text is usually a self-serving attempt to prop up some dubious doctrine.

So when the Bible talks about love in the New Testament, should we love each other as the Greeks did back then?

For not standing up to the truth and nothing but the truth, the Bible sure makes a splash, doesn't It?

God being mentioned in almost every nation's anthem on Earth.

Not to mention crosses on flags.

In fact:

1. Bible verses on public buildings
2. time divided into BC & AD
3. organizations such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army
4. hospitals built by Christian organizations
5. Christian artwork, edifices, statuary, and literature
6. IN GOD WE TRUST on our coins
7. UNDER GOD in our pledge of allegiance
8. the Ten Commandments and other literature displayed in public
9. Christmas & Easter
10. symbols on bumper stickers and flags
11. public debates in the name of Christianity
12. crosses and billboards erected to testify of Jesus Christ
13. two major nations founded on His existence
14. martyrs
15. Christians & Jews
All of those things are a testimony to the power of the Christian faith for many people. It's faith in Christ, not the literal inerrancy of Scripture which makes them possible.

Yes, indeed.

For "not the literal inerrancy of Scripture," said Scripture sure makes a splash though, doesn't it?

And why would a Writing that is so full of errors and/or allegory generate so much faith in its Author?

Because 'not literal and inerrant' is not the same thing as 'full of errors/allegories.' What you have constructed is a false dichotomy.

The Bible doesn't generate faith; that's not what it is for. As Paul tells us, the Bible is intended to inform faith.

Well, when the time comes ... Merry Christmas. :)

The Bible doesn't generate faith;

Really?

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Anything else the Bible doesn't do that It does?

... that's not what it is for.

Oh yeah?

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

And aren't we going to be judged from It in the end?

As Paul tells us, the Bible is intended to inform faith.

Ya ... I see that information everywhere ...

1. Bible verses on public buildings
2. time divided into BC & AD
3. organizations such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army
4. hospitals built by Christian organizations
5. Christian artwork, edifices, statuary, and literature

You're confusing "Hearing the Word of God" with reading the Protestant Bible.

Which Bible should I confuse it with?

(Please be specific.)
Hearing verses reading.

I don't have faith in Christ because I believe the Bible, I believe the Bible because I have faith in Christ.

What's increased your faith since then?

Are you serious?

On my computer, the OP takes up eleven screens of evidence.

Have you read it?
How much space a thing takes up matters not.

You said in your post #5 that you couldn't wait until @sjastro see's this thread.

Well did you just completely ignore his post in post #11, or what?

God Bless.
