I understand that this meeting or gathering in the air is at the end of time. This is when Jesus returns to judge everyone who has ever lived. When he returns, all the dead bodies will be raised and re-united with their spirits. These resurrected people will come with Jesus to meet in the air the righteous who are still on earth. When Jesus returns, those who are left on earth will receive their immortal bodies in the twinkling of an eye as they rise to meet Jesus and his angels and saints in the air. When he returns, he will judge the living and the dead. When the judgment is finished, Jesus will then hand his kingdom over to his Father.Revelation 19:11-21 sets it all out very well and Matthew 24:30-31 is indisputable about when His faithful peoples will be gathered.
John 5:28-30 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
1 Corinthians 15:20-24 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.
1 Corinthians 15:51-53 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
Jude 1:14-15 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
