it is too many and to much power to Biden. It puts it all in the hands of Biden. He is gaining alot in this. But, until we know what is in it none of us should be accepting it. Let it be debated.

Wait, I thought the narrative was the President doesn't need the Congress to "secure the border"....now granting the President discretion to limit those seeking asylum is giving him too much power?

We all created this mess.

American businesses rely on illegal immigrant labor. Congress has refused to shut it down for over 4 decades
American consumers readily consume (and benefit from ) cheaper goods and services as a result of illegal immigrant labor.
Americans readily consume illegal drugs that is fuleing cartel interprises.
American politicians would rather blame the illegal immigrant for *our problems* than address our issues.

I read that in the third quarter of 2022, the average expenditure per smartphone in Mexico was around 4,501 Mexican pesos which is $262.85 in US dollars. Far cry from $15. That's still a lot of money for poor folks!

These have cameras on them, they send selfies when they get in the US. You’re talking in the $1200 range
I don't think you've needed to spend that much to get a phone with a camera since the early 2000s. I think I paid about $50 for a flip phone with a camera in 2008-ish, and I bought my first smartphone (which also had a camera) for around $200 in 2010. These days, the market is even better. This is from the US Tracfone website:

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that a $1200 iPhone 15 Pro Max has, but it can take photos, make phone calls, and connect to the internet, all for about 1/100th of the cost.

Believe it or not, there are plenty of Mexicans who can afford to buy the latest and greatest top-of-the-line phones, which tends to bring the average up significantly. They don't all live in mud huts and tin shacks.

Those who have that kind of money generally aren't the ones coming to the US illegally.

The real expense is having to pay the cartel

Something that they save for years to be able to do, often borrowing money from friends and family as well.
Seems like instead of doing that they could put the effort into coming here legally

So what? I get along just fine with a Samsung Galaxy I bought for $40. What I don't get is why this is so important. There is no wealth test for seeking asylum

Then why spend so long arguing over the phones? Stop moving the goalposts.

...and wait 15 years or more. If any of us were in their shoes, we would do the same.

Unless they have the political connections to get visas and passports and can afford to fly, they have to pay the cartels anyway. Some of these people are so far off the grid that they don't even speak Spanish. You're going to have to find a way to explain to them how to get themselves and their families to safety without committing a misdemeanor.

The Illuminati control the cartels too? I didn’t know they had branched out. Does the Black Pope know about this?
Beats me. I don't swim in those waters. You want to speculate about the source of meaningless migrant accoutrements that is up to you. I would rather focus on the ongoing issues that we could solve if there was a willingness to compromise and seek solutions.
