The bill, known as A08336 makes absolutely no mention of the religious character of the Chick-fil-A policy at any point. Despite the Christian-owned restaurant being a frequent target of religious discrimination from various government bodies and municipalities for years, the purely religious motivation behind the policy is never considered. Nor is the notion that excluding Chick-fil-A from operating along the State Thruway could present illegal religious discrimination ever addressed.
They are not going to stop trying to seize control of the people.

In case anybody missed it, this only applies to restaurants within publicly-owned rest stops on the NYS Thruway. I grew up in central NY and much of my family still lives there and in the capital region. I read this story and thought to myself, “man, I can’t ever remember seeing a Chik-fil-A along the Thruway. I wonder how many there are. I bet I could count them on one hand.”

lo and behold:

I’m not sure I agree with the rule, but we’re talking about five restaurants.

What's the point of a restaurant at a rest stop if it isn't open every day?
Why not force all restaurants to be open all night? This proposed law violates the freedom to practice your religion as per the United States Constitution.

The businesses in these rest stops don’t exist merely to line the pockets of their owners; they also serve as public goods and, as such, the government has a vested interest in making sure they provide a minimum level of service. It’s pretty standard for businesses contracting to do business with the government to have to abide by some extra set of conditions with which they otherwise wouldn’t have to abide. That could be requirements for paying prevailing wages, or providing a minimum level of service, or doing business with minorities. Operating during certain business hours is no different. Shopping malls typically have similar rules.

I understand. However, we have a restaurant that is already there, and this is in the middle of a government crackdown on those who disagree with the positions of the Democrats. They are trying to force people to obey their commands, tossing away the U.S. Constitution. They have curtailed free speech, gone after the right to peacefully protest, tried to ban the leading presidential candidate (who is not a Democrat) from being on the ballot, going after those who use gas stoves (unless you are Kamala or another elite), and once again gone after freedom of religion. They have singled out Catholics to spy on because they are the leader of the pro-life movement and allowed attacks on pro-life centers.

I did not know that a fast food restaurant was a religion.

Whoa....from you link:

"....the “Rest Stop Restaurant Act” would require that all businesses operating along the New York State Thruway be open for business every day. According to reports, the proposed law would include the national restaurant chain Chick-fil-A, widely known for its Christian business policies, such as remaining closed on the Sabbath, every Sunday."

As another poster noted, this involves 5 restaurants along the New York State Thruway.

Here's a thought: If Chick-fil-A can't meet the 7 day open requirement, end the contract.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Christian business practices. But I can see how you fell for the article's manipulation....

The restaurant is run by Christians. They don’t want to be open on Sundays. They should not be forced to work if they don’t want to. This is a clear step towards forcing all restaurants to be open on Sundays.

then that means they are being discriminated against for being Christian and not wanting to run on Sunday.

The “public utility” is fast food, absolute garbage fast food.

Of course it is about Christians. New York has all kinds of problems with crime and immigration and overt religious discrimination, they could have had the laws BEFORE Chick-fil-A spent the money to create their shop? Why didn't they? As to your "end the contract," how about if New York passes this legislation cut off their federal funding until they comply with the U.S. Constitution?

None of that is happening. The Conservisphere is lying to you.

That said, I didn't ask for a laundry list of debunked persecution myths. I asked if you can answer the question. Apparently you cannot.

I guess there aren't any Muslim owned outlets on the freeway (I assume a thruway is a freeway/motorway?). They'd be shut almost all of March daylight hours.

What counts as work as far as the sabath is concerned? We have some very fundamental Jews in my suburb and a couple of years ago some of them asked the council to change the local 'push button' pedestrian crossings to automatic. Because they thought that pushing the button on the sabath was, ahem...work. The council was exceptionally polite in refusing.

There are a wide variety of opinions among Christians in regard to how much you can work on Sunday. A good portion of practicing Christians would not do a regular shift of work on Sunday unless it was necessary--such as an emergency room doctor, fireman, security guard, or policeman. It is definitely not to be treated as any other day. I have never heard of forcing a business to be open on a Sunday, so it is disturbing given the current anti-Judeo-Christian movement in the United States.

What's the point of a "Christian" forum dominated by secularists?
It could have more balance and sanity than one dominated by Christians?

So long as it includes NY not having to send in federal taxes it would be a net gain.
