In a bombshell decision, Colorado's Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that former President Donald Trump's candidacy in the state's primary next year is prohibited on constitutional grounds.

"A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution," the ruling said. "Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot.”

....things are getting spicy.

In related news "Ron DeSantis wets pants with excitement" (okay, I made that part up)

lol.

Lmbo, even.
Admittedly, I have no idea how important (or unimportant) the the Colorado GOP primary is with regards to determining who the GOP nominee is...could be a lot, could be very little.

But the Trump campaign camp has to be sweating bullets about whether or not other states will be following suit.

And honestly, this could be "the gift the GOP didn't know they wanted". Based on what I've read recently, while Trump polls higher than DeSantis and Haley in GOP primaries, those two poll better than him against Biden in a General election (which is the one that really counts).

While Nikki Haley certainly wouldn't be my first choice, I could tolerate a Haley presidency.

Although, if more states do follow suit and Trump has to step aside, I wonder if DeSantis and/or Haley moving to the front of the line would cause the DNC to put more pressure on Biden to step aside in favor of Newsom (which, let's be honest, they should be doing anyway)

From the article:

'Courts have ruled against similar efforts to get Trump banned from the ballot in Arizona, Michigan and Minnesota. The plaintiffs challenging Trump’s eligibility in Michigan filed an appeal to that state’s high court on Monday.'

I think others will follow.
This is an attack against a free and fair election system, a real attack on our Republic. Realize that people are not going to allow Democrats to choose who wins and who loses. Heaven help this nation if Democrats decide to declare Joe Biden the winner of the next election.

Enough with the Trump insurrection hoax. People are not going to put up with an attack on our Republic. Any injustice allowed hurts us all in the long run.

I think the whole thing could backfire. The more "the establishment" ostracizes Trump, the more committed his supporters will become.
He didn't have enough last time. And I really can't see him gaining any swinging voters the next time, not the way he's been carrying on. The next one is for the Dems to lose.

Enough with the Trump insurrection hoax.
Could you please stop using words incorrectly. There is no "Donald insurrection hoax".
People are not going to put up with an attack on our Republic.
Only on red hat Bizarro World is applying a provision of the Constitution "an attack on our Republic"? You what really was an attack on our Republic? Donald's fake electors, his election fraud "find me 11,700 votes, one more than we need to win" and the January 6th red hat attack on the Capitol.
Any injustice allowed hurts us all in the long run.
Like having a classified document stealing insurrectionists being on the ballot? We agree.

I would guess Nicky Haley.
The Trump voters would combine behind DeSantis. Nicky Haley is a niche candidate and I think her support is maxxed out. Whether DeSantis could beat Biden or whether the Democrats will disqualify Biden in favor of another candidate, pure speculation.

This wasn't about Democrats choosing who wins or loses. This ruling was about Trump's actions in trying to stop the electoral certification of the election he lost.

. People are not going to put up with an attack on our Republic.
The typical trump supporter eventually puts up with anything and everything . The put up with Dominion voting changing millions of votes and the court not punishing them. They put up with Ruby Freeman casting tens of thousands of votes and the court not punishing them.

Frankly I am ashamed of the Colorado Supreme Court.
Any one is entitled to have charges filed, a trial and with that amendment it is not clear where the trial would be held or who should preside. To just unilaterally convict a person without due process...what a travesty!
Hello...a person has a right to answer charges against him and a jury of his peers.
I hope the Supreme Court straightens out the "State Supreme Court" about the Constitutional procedures and rights of person alleged to have committed a crime.
