True, and the Golden Rule has been around for much longer than that. But the full implications of "don't bully others" or "treat others as you want to be treated" aren't always lived out in American society. Black people, women, Jews, Muslims, Latinos, gay people, gender nonconforming people, and people in a number of other groups have often not been treated according to the Golden Rule, despite our best intentions. Sometimes, I think, people don't realize how their actions and attitudes hurt others. So it can be useful to get specific sometimes, and point to specific groups. "See how this can hurt Jewish people?" "See how this can hurt gay people?" and so on.

What's really going on though is that LGBTQIA2+ is being glamorized.

Elementary school students can be taught to treat everyone equally and fairly, without being immersed in the ideology of a particular group. If an emphasis is being put on LGBTQIA+ that's not equality. The only way to make things equal would be to either drop the emphasis on LGBTQIA+ or put an equal emphasis on each and every individual group in society.

Trust me, he's well aware of this. He's seen all the arguments, articles and videos of what's going on in schools. He's just gas lighting now.

Find me the obscenity in And Tango Makes Three - a book about the real story of two male penguins raising a chick. Moms For Liberty seems to think it's worthy of a ban.

Find me obscenity in Alma and How She Got Her Name. Or in Lubna and Pebble, or Plenty of Hugs, or Two Dads, or Worm Loves Worm.

Oh brother. Yes we all teach them to bully tarns and fay kids. Every night at the dinner table we ask them if they picked in a gay or trans kid. If they have they get a high five and money.

We are spending all our time getting our kids to write letters to LGBT organizations telling them to stop indoctrinating kids. Oh wait I forgot, it's the leftist teachers doing that to conservative groups. Sorry my bad.

We just stick to telling our kids ever day before school to go out and bully a trans kid today! Make your mama proud!

Oh please the SPLC is nothing more than a left wing shill group with biases galore towards conservatives. It recklessly labels conservative groups as hate groups. It's a totally biased liberal organization who targets people. They were so unreliable that the FBI quit using them as a source.

Even judges recognize this. A federal judge recently found that the SPLC hate list does not “depend upon objective data or evidence” and its application of the “hate group” designation is “entirely subjective.” And another federal judge ruled that SPLC’s “representation or description” of a nonprofit organization as a hate group “is not one ‘of fact.’”

So their labels are clearly biased and untrustworthy. They even lost a lawsuit in regards this.

This isn't about what I think, it's about what parents in general think. And it's a forgone conclusion the books are obviously about sexuality, considering the large number of parents not wanting those books in elementary schools based on their content.

These books need to be banned because we know there's bad stuff in them. How do we know that there's bad stuff in them? Because we want them to be banned.

Seems a bit circular to me, and certainly an argument that wouldn't be attempted if there were actually better fact-based ones available.

A letter was in the enclosed packaging from Ann Christianson, a social studies teacher and coordinator of the Gay-Straight Alliance at Jane Addams Middle School in Seattle.

If this was something that came out of student activities within GSA, then I don't see any problem (or forcing).
If this was something done as an in-class assignment (with only one theme) then there would likely be a problem.
