Is that why she admitted guilt?
She pled guilty to misdemeanors and will face no real consequences. She will not even have a record. The news is that they dropped the felonies and the RICO charges. And she just has to testify to the truth. I don’t know if I would pitch this as flipping on Trump but we’ll see what happens. I wouldn’t want to interrupt the celebration going on in this thread so by all means resume.

Flipping Powell & Chesebro is a big win for the prosecution.

They get two co-operating witnesses and reduce the number of defendants
They don't have to conduct two separate trials
They don't have to preview their trial strategy six months early
They send a signal to other defendants that there is still time to take a lenient plea deal

She has to pay fees close to ten thousand dollars and she is on probation for six years. And if she does not answer truthfully when she testifies, she gets charged and makes the deal null and void. That is hardly a slap on the wrist.

Wasn’t she (allegedly) party to several meetings where “if we could only get our hand on voting machines*” was the topic?

*just the gist, not an actual quote, but not by much

Correct. At the White House on December 18th.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., who co-led Tuesday's hearing, described how attorney Sidney Powell, former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne and former national security adviser Michael Flynn accessed the White House with the help of a junior staffer and spoke with Trump alone for 10-15 minutes before White House officials learned of the meeting and made their way to join.

Cipollone also testified that he spoke out against a plan to appoint Powell as a special counsel in charge of investigating seized voting machines and prosecuting election-related crimes.

And Powell has stipulated that she was involved in the (illegal) copying of data from voting machines in Coffee County, Georgia.

Yes. I am pretty sure she will be required to testify about that.

The celebration of justice should be a celebration for all. Sadly that is not the case.

I am incredibly doubtful, but I have to wonder if D. Trump will take a plea deal after watching what happened to those who rejected the plea deal for January 6th. Especially if most of the other defendants take a deal.
What would prosecutors receive in a plea deal with the person at the top of the alleged criminal enterprise? All of these pleas are designed to get people up the ladder. He will never take a deal, IMO.

I think Mr Trump may beg for a plea deal by the time his trial arrives. Justice has a habit of setting a few street dealers free in order to snare the kingpin. I think Donald understands these people who agreed to testify and copped plea deals can send him to the stripey hole if they testify truthfully. The man will be desperate to avoid prison at any cost. And hopefully prosecutors rebuff his cries for a plea bargain and introduce the guy to Ms Accountability. She has been trying to meet him for decades as he consciously evades her advances lol.

It is amazing that some people would champion crime committed by white collar operatives but frown when they are caught and brought to justice.

QFT. I was thinking the same thing. Will the prosecutors even offer him a plea deal? I doubt it.

I have no sympathy for Trump I just think y’all may be celebrating too soon. I really don’t want the man back in the White House the only thing worse I can think of is four more years of Biden though.

Except that Chesebro's plea deal includes a felony count. More important, Chesebro's actions are tied much closer to the meat of the charges against Donald Trump.

I'm still waiting for Meadows, as it is strongly expected that he will take a plea deal -- assuming, as expected, that the Supreme Court denies moving his case to federal court. Since he basically testified to much of what is at issue in the Georgia case, in an attempt to claim he was doing his job and it should be moved to federal court, assuming his appeal fails, that testimony should result in an easy conviction; which is why it is expected he'll attempt to make a deal.

I doubt prosecutors will need to think about offering Trump a deal. Chesebro and Powell wouldn't have escaped prison time had they not had substantial testimony to offer against the kingpin. Notwithstanding the fact we have heard nothing from other co-defendants such as Eastman or Meadows lately. Which is why I originally used the word "beg" when predicting Donald's future reaction. The man understands in his heart that what he did was wrong, and he knows all of his co-conspirators likely can provide evidence to the fact.

Alas, life is just so unfair when lesser people receive plea bargains and the radical world is rigged against alleged billionaire criminals lol.

Trump's all talk and promised he'd bring American jobs home.
Biden is constantly fighting a stutter when he talks (and good on him!), but unlike Trump - Biden enacted IRA.
I don't know the last time American domestic industry, energy security, and workers were given such a chance!
Yet because Trump dog-whistles to the racist underbelly of the white working class in America - he's the one they think is going to MAGA! :sigh::doh:
It's just sad people don't know history. They can't recognise a malignant narcissist trying to rise through power and become the next fascist dictator.
