The correct creation date is not a matter of interpretation.

It is a matter of calculation.

One that a simple abacus/calculator/slide rule can handle.
Really well here is an opportunity to demonstrate for once you are not all talk and no action.
Show us with a simple abacus/calculator/slide rule the calculations involved.
What is remarkable is not only can the year be calculated but the date itself.
While you are demonstrating the calculations care to work out the time when creation occurred preferably in AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time).

This is complete utter nonsense.
Not only did you not provide any details for your calculations but you admitted you were 200 years out!!

I can live with it.

Can you?

So you have no qualms of making a fool of yourself by declaring the calculation is so simple using a abacus/calculator/slide rule despite the fact you got the wrong answer.

I got the wrong answer, did I?

Instead of making yourself look bad, why don't you do the math yourself?

Again, all you need is a calculator and Genesis 5, Genesis 10, and 1 Chronicles 1-9.

And if your answer differs with mine, and mine differs with Usher, then simply employ Occam's razor.

Anyone who whines about the universe being 13 billion years old, while at the same time wondering why people come up with it being 6000 years old ± 1000 years has some kind of vendetta or something.

As I'm fond of saying, science moves the decimal point as needed, until it's skating on ice.

In this case, science has moved it so far out, it makes complaining about plus-or-minus a thousand years silly.

There you go again with the whataboutism nonsense, you are wrong by 200 years irrespective of whether I do the maths or not.

You are one hopelessly confused individual who doesn’t understand science is about evidence and the Bible is about faith.
Stop trying to conflate the Bible as being evidence and given this is a science forum the science takes precedence.

I wouldn’t waste my time to do the maths as I would have to accept individuals such as Adam, Methuselah, Jared, Noah, Seth and Enos in the list of your follow up post all lived for over 900 years.
These old geezers were remarkably fertile as well, Adam and Eve were around 130 years old to conceive Seth.

Here is the science which I go by; the record for the oldest age at death is held by Jeanne Calment at 122 years based on legitimate birth and death certificates.
Being a science forum and the emphasis on evidence do you have the birth and death certificates of these 900+ year old individuals?
No you don’t, in fact you can’t even provide evidence these individuals even existed, the earliest known individual known to be historically attested through archaeology in the OT as I have mentioned in a previous thread is the pharaoh Shoshenq I who was known by his biblical translation as Shishak.

What about the fertility aspect?
The oldest known age for a mother to give birth through natural conception is 62 years yet I’m supposed to believe Eve was around 130 years old when she gave birth to Seth.
I would only do the maths based on sound data not on storylines without evidence.

As a follower of Jesus, believing Him and learning from the Father/ the Creator,
There is only one Creation Date for anything or anyone.
The Creator Created (or Creates) everything and everyone as He Says.
What a phony answer

Afraid you'll be some 200 years off of Usher's calculations as well?

You are one hopelessly confused individual who doesn’t understand science is about evidence and the Bible is about faith.

As Mr Hovind pointed out:

If we don't know where God came from, and you don't know where that primordial atom came from, then don't call what you believe "science," and what we believe "religion."

Stop trying to conflate the Bible as being evidence and given this is a science forum the science takes precedence.

Not over math though.

I wouldn’t waste my time to do the maths as I would have to accept individuals such as Adam, Methuselah, Jared, Noah, Seth and Enos in the list of your follow up post all lived for over 900 years.

No, you don't have to accept them.

It's your freewill not to have to.

Others have done it for you, and I posted Usher's chronology for you, and now you're retreating behind your craft (science) and telling me this is a science forum, not a religious forum.

I figured you'd pull something out of your hat, if I was to do all that work and show you my calculations; and I rejoiced when I saw Usher's calculations in chart form.

So I posted it to see what you'd say.

And sure enough, I was right.

In short, if you won't accept Usher's calculations, you surely won't accept mine.

And I never did expect you to do the math yourself, either.

My point stands.

Earth may be extremely old, but it has only been in existence since 4004 BC.

Then YOU do the math too, if you think I'm wrong.

Don't just sit and make potshots.

Aren't you scientifically-minded people supposed to investigate before you communicate?

Or will you join astro in finding out that you too might differ with Usher by some 200 years as well?

I don't know how old the earth is, myself.

But what I do know is how long it has been in existence (plus-or-minus a couple of centuries).

What I didn't expect is how many people in the video linked below didn't know how old the earth is. And how far off they were. And I'm wondering how wide spread that lack of knowledge about the earth's age is. I don't know if that picture is due to creative editing or actual lack of knowledge.

Nobody knows exactly how old Earth is except God. Geologists spent decades saying it is 4.6 billion years old. Then they changed it to 4.5 billion years after I became an adult. Of course, they are rounding up or down so their estimates end with zero, so in the year 2023 none of them as stated in peer-reviewed articles are 100% accurate. But no matter how old Earth is, we know it is somewhere in the billions and approximately the same age as our sun.

I hate suddenly inserting a totally off-topic in a thread and highly recommend posting that video in the appropriate section (Animals and Pets) if it is worth watching. If any kind of torture is in the video, it should have been censored by YouTube.

Um ... it's a cute news story of a cat in the neighborhood stealing items.

That's not blood on that item, and no harm came to anyone.

The "torture" mentioned is just a funny way of saying "menaced".

Impossible. God is infinite and created Earth.
Your omme t about "peer related...100%
accurate" is really not accurate.

No scientist would ever make such a
claim.

Your statements about "god"
no doubt are what you sincerely believe
but I'd say very questionable.

There is, after all, zero (0) physical,
mathemetical or any other evidence that any
of the thousands of gods people have believed in
have any existence whatever except in peoples heads.

The way science works otoh, is to examine such
FACTS as can be obtained, and offer the best
explanation.

And despite how pop print portrays it, it's always
stated as probabilities. As best estimate.
As. " this is what we think we see as the gs now seem to be". 100%? Never happens, cannot happen.

IMO Faith has a valid and worthy place.
With the understanding that it's belief in the
unknown, the hoped for.

To state belief as fact is profoundly contrary to
the nature and spirit of Faith.

You very definitely got it completely wrong about the
nature of science.

I believe there's a similarly major error in your
statement of faith.

You might want to think about it.
