  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Florida ‘effectively’ bans Advanced Placement Psychology course due to curriculum's discussion of gender and sexual orientation

Do you have beliefs, of any sort? Are those beliefs real?
My belief regarding gender identity is real world, Budlight tried to push transgender Dylan Mulvaney off on their customer base, and they lost $27 billion US dollars instantly, and it's not going to stop, budweiser made the biggest mistake in their business history

Nope. I don't think polls determine reality at all. Polls are just a measure of opinions.

Nothing more, nothing less.

-- A2SG, and we all know what opinions are like.......

Wouldn't be the first time a company made a marketing mistake. Remember New Coke? Or that time Mountain Dew polled the internet to name a new brand of drink?

Not sure how this relates to gender identity, though.

-- A2SG, is this another non-sequitur....were you going to bring your hopes for the future of the SCOTUS into this as well......

Well, it happened. Beyond that, I don't know what point you think you're making with this.

-- A2SG, though, it sounds more like a you problem than a me problem......

I thought that the government dictating what medical procedures patients decide to obtain, (we’re not allowed to make horrible mistakes?) was part of the “nanny-state” that Conservatives (used to) decry?

What changed?
It's kinda like "states rights", whether they're good or not seems to depend heavily on if minority groups are hurt or not.

It is a requirement of the AP Psychology class, which is the topic of this thread.
A half-truth.
  • AP Psychology is a class taught in HS followed by a test that is used to provide College Credit for the class.
The College Board (US) requires gender topics to be taught in order to receive College Credit at US Colleges.
The Cambridge Program is designed for US HS Students that intend to study abroad [like at OXFORD] and offers AP Psychology at US High Schools that does not violate Florida law (and required no change in curriculum, it never taught gender in an Intro to Psychology course) that is accepted for college credit overseas.

The "problem" is 100% manufactured by the College Board since other universities do not have this issue ... only the testing agency for US colleges (the College Board) NEEDS to violate Florida Law to teach AP Psychology.

We have a Cambridge program at our local Florida HS for students that intend to go to college overseas and they get a special HS Diploma stating they have met the Cambridge Program standards (which demonstrates equivalence with Education standards different from the US).

No, it doesn't. AP Psychology is a product of the College Board, which is the sole determiner of its content.

Cambridge International offers a similar competing product with a posh British accent.

Gender is not based on anything but sex. You first have to assume that it's not. But the assumption is not based upon anything.

What is identity? What are you identifying as?

What's you your evidence they are not harming themselves or anyone else. You first have to define harm. So what is the definition of harm?
Do you speak any foreign language? Many have gender as an integral part and it is NOT only based on sex. In most dogs have the male gender.

Heck even in English ships and cars are female in gender.

What language is based off of more than two genders?

You win ... when we are splitting semantic hairs over distinctions without differences, I leave the conversation to those that prefer to argue GENDER vs SEX.

And Latin and Greek. Significant for a Christian site.
Doesn't Greek have "Male, Female and Neuter" with Male for Male, Female for Female and Neuter for a mixed group (male and female together in a group)?

That isn't really what modern gender fluidity is advocating when people choose their preferred pronoun.
It seems like an "apples to oranges" comparison.

Example. What Gender beyond male and female is the German language based on.
German is a fusional language with a moderate degree of inflection, with three grammatical genders

Examples:
Masculine: 'the dog' der Hund
Feminine: 'the cat' die Katze
Neuter: 'the girl' das Mädchen
