  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is this really a party Democrats want to follow?

Is this really how "Christian Republicans" act?

No.

It is not.

I hope you don't defend what the Missouri Democratic party said today.

That was inappropriate, but I'm not sure what the point of your post is other than stirring the pot - neither Republicans nor Democrats come out of a game of "Who has the worst tweets?" looking good.

Calling for houses to be burned down of the other side is merely "inappropriate " ?

I think this hardly can be described as either
#1) openly
or
#2) calling for
arson.

So I'm gonna throw my hands in the air
And wave 'em like I just don't care

(FWIW, the twxxt has been deleted. No comment from the state org that I've seen)

Really? That's the only part of my post that you're going to reply to?

Again, what is your objective with this post? What are you trying to show?

The objective of my post was to ask a question and then read the answers to that question.

I don't know how any Christian can support what the Missouri Democrat Party posted there in Twitter.
I watched a video yesterday of a Trump supporter, when speaking of Democrats, said "They can kill 'em all. Kill 'em all."
There is an article I cannot post because of the foul language from Trump supporters where a few were calling for civil war, and said,
“We need to start killing ... " and “It's not gonna stop until bodies start stacking up."

Is that a party you want to follow?

There are extremists on both sides. Don't take the comments of a few who are bizarre as being representative of the whole party.

I would love to see some mature grown-ups with real platforms run under both the Democratic and the Republican parties. They are both behaving like a bunch of junior high school students with almost no impulse control and very little to say but slinging mud. If they had well-founded, well-researched platforms that represented a decent percent of Americans, I believe they would spend their time and money promoting that rather than playing name-calling, nasty games.

Our government has been going downhill my entire life and I am sure it started long before I was born. Surely there are mature grown-ups with sound ideas that are not 75 + years old that want to be in high-level politics? I can dream anyway.

I agree with the main point of what you are saying.
However, that tweet came from the official Twitter account of the Missouri Democratic party.

I don't know how a Christian can support either presidential party right now (most local, and some state are not as bad). I barely tolerate either one, and that is only because my viable choices are limited two, sadly. I may not vote for the first time in roughly 50 years due to the lack of a viable choice from either party in this upcoming presidential election.

Is anyone else tired of picking the best of the two lousy choices?

So? Do you think that the Missouri Democratic Party gets together and collectively drafts every tweet their account posts? Do you think that every tweet is run through administrative approval? No, they have a social media manager who controls the account. Most likely, that social media manager is now out of a job - or has at least been given a very stern talking-to and lost their access.

I hope you are correct.

I understand. The tweet was removed and we do no know if it was meant in jest but it was bad.
I have read things by the Republican party and elected officials that were questionable.
