• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was hoping not to see any striking out, alas. It's early yet. The most outspoken of the non believers have not replied yet and maybe they won't. A question i should have asked of all of you is...how long have you been a non believer? You don't have to answer if you don't want to. Another question would be Do any of you have a want to be a Christian?

Ob, i detect an attitude in your responses. Sorry if i hit a nerve.
That response was directed back to Ordinary Christian - not to you.

As a general observation, I suspect that many Christians could not explain what much of this standard Christian jargon means. It tends to be used as a code for "I'm a Christian like you" or as a cover for saying nothing while appearing to be saying something.

2. I can't think of any reason why I would want to be a Christian and multiple reasons why I would not.

In eleven years on CF I have yet to see anyone come close to proving Creation.

Evolution is not an atheist plot. It was identified by Christians (Darwin and Wallace) and is accepted as science by many Christians and Christian denominations.

OB

So if creation does not exist and nothing has been created, why do thing exist.

I'm just trying to understand. Not a judgement on any of you. Why would you want to be in a Christian forum? It would be nice if you're on the fence and you might fall over to our side. Hopefully to learn about Jesus. I've talked to a few and they made no bones about their hatred, one was converting people to his side. What about you?
So that I don’t live in an echo chamber. There are simply loads of opinions that I never get exposed to in the other sites I visit.

This time I am responding directly to you. I find it absurd to expect anything else other than Christian jargon from Christians. Now when I'm on non-religious forums, I don't use Christian jargon. But here I do, whether or not I'm replying to an unbeliever, because this is a Christian forum and therefore I most certainly am not going to hold back.

I corrected it. He spent a lot of time asking questions to weaken your stand on God and Jesus
How could asking questions so that? It’s the answers, surely?

I was a little offended by the definition when it said "a godless man".
How could asking questions so that? It’s the answers, surely?
He was always wanting you wrong. He would set you up for a fall. He was a lot like hammy. Trying to trap. Like he would ask, Does God ever change his mind or did God change in the nt? Then he would pounce on your answer causing doubt in your beliefs. I knew it was a cat and mouse game with him so i very seldom answered. Mostly he was a pariah. A trouble maker but i liked his personality.

Not for me. I talk to everyone the same here. Lots of the time I do this on my phone where I can't even readily see what someone's status is.

If by 'things' you mean everything I have no idea why it exists

This is not the thread for challenges. They should have the freedom to speak without being questioned. Feel free to start another thread if you wish to question them

Non Christians have limited access but I am glad they pop into threads because they are the " harvest". We are called to spread the " Good News". Blessings.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." (Matthew 9:37-38)

I don't believe in God. I don't need to believe. I know God for certain; God is as close to me as my hands and eyes. I don't believe I have hands and eyes I know I have them. God is as real and as certain. We are born with this knowledge and the ability to communicate with God. All those that don't know these facts do is shake off the blinders and blocks that have been placed before them.

This question comes up every once in a while.

A lot of different reasons. Originally, I was mostly involved in creation/evolution topics, but I've broadened out with interests in ethics/morality and politics. It's also particularly interesting to see the people that agree with me on evolution but disagree with me on politics (and vice versa).

I come to see news stories that I might not have seen otherwise, hear opinions I might not have otherwise heard.

I get to keep an eye on what the 'evangelical Trump voter' has on his mind.

I try to encourage people to use better 'information hygiene', to avoid fake news.

Another reason is so I can dispel myths and prejudices about atheists that are held by some Christians who haven't had much experience with atheists (that they know of).

Christian: Atheists have horns on their heads!
me: We do not!
Christian: well, maybe atheists have only one horn on their heads
me: Victory!

I think always, at least since reaching the age of reason. As a child, maybe I was some sort of weak non-church-going American-style default Christian, but I didn't really know what that meant. About the age of 10 or 11 I clearly perceived that I didn't believe in any gods. And now it's several decades on from there.
