I'm just trying to understand. Not a judgement on any of you. Why would you want to be in a Christian forum? It would be nice if you're on the fence and you might fall over to our side. Hopefully to learn about Jesus. I've talked to a few and they made no bones about their hatred, one was converting people to his side. What about you?
I actually joined this website when I was a Christian myself, ironically in the hopes of finding a community where I could face less scrutiny for my beliefs. Ever since I was a kid I was very entranced with Christianity and couldn't help talking about it with others, the problem is some secular places can be pretty brutal with feedback; so, I came here in the hopes of some relief. A year later I lost my faith, and a year after that I worked up the courage to start calling myself an atheist. During this time, I actually took a year break from this website.
After losing my faith I started facing a lot of psychological (I believe chemical withdrawal symptoms). About 6 months into being an atheist I finally realized the main source of my trauma I experienced with my faith. This spurred deep anger and resentment with my former religion, and I came back here with a vengeance wanting to debate other Christians. Although to my surprise I wasn't met with hostility with too many of the Christian members here, and some sympathized with my plight... so the anger cooled off. By that time, I got resettled into this site... and despite not having too much of a reason being here faith wise... I mainly post here now simply because this place is familiar.
I guess I'd say.. Christianity has been part of my life ever since I became self-aware, to totally separate myself from that... might be one reason I also stick around. This website is pretty much my last link for that.
