WHAT??? Trump gave Jerusalem back to Israel as their capital???? This is such a ridiculously idiotic statement. He recognized that Jerusalem was the official capital, that's all. And it had pretty much nothing to do with Jews, but all to do with supporting his base of evangelical Christians who think that modern Israel is a fulfillment of various prophecies. The rest of Christianity objected to it.

I’m pretty sure that it was David Ben Gurion who declared and the Knesset agreed that Jerusalem would be the capital. All President Trump did was to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
