No I don’t think they needed the tree of life because the punishment of death had not been placed upon man until after the fall.
I agree they didn't need the tree but I'm not sure whether you are also saying they had eternal life? Do you think Adam had eternal life prior to the fall?

When I said "Jesus never said you need an anointing" to understand spiritual matters you replied you never said that. Yet here you are repeating it yet again. How else am I to understand what you are saying regarding OT Prophets?

The OT Prophets were not in the New Testament.
Jesus was not in the Old Testament in a Human body.

So, in the NT, Christ is risen and believers are born again.

This is not the case in the OT.
Christ is not. '" Christ in you the Hope of Glory"..... in any of the OT Saints. None of them are the "temple of the Holy Spirit".
None of them are "In Christ"., as you have to be born again for those to happen, and being born again started AFTER Jesus was slain, and rose again.

Look at this verse.

"As JESUS IS.......so are the born again, in this World"...

see that?
That does not apply to any Old Testament saint.

So, in the OT, .. God's anointing as "The Word of the Lord came to me"...... is specific to God's OT ministers.
However, Kings had an anointing also.... as David said that Saul was "God's anointed".

Furthermore death had not entered into the world until the fall. It was the fall that brought death upon man. So I would say that Adam did have eternal life before the fall then it was revoked.

We all have eternal life., but not all have the Specific type that is this.....Jesus said. "I am The Way, The Truth, and THE LIFE".
See that life?
That is the eternal life that Jesus speaks about here....= "All that believe in me, i give unto them ETERNAL LIFE, and they shall never perish".
So, that is Christ's life that is our Spiritual Union with God, (Born again)>..., that John teaches this way.....>"you can KNOW you have eternal life".....by being born again "in Christ".

But then there is this.....
Everyone is a spirit being in a dying body. And this spirit being who is the real you, does not die. it just continues.
Your body will be cremated or buried in a box, but the real you, the spirit < = is gone to a final destination that begins with your body dies, as this releases your spirit.

When you read about the "2nd Death".......being Hell and the Lake of Fire........this is not the death of the Spirit.... this is the permanent separation from God, into that situation.
See, the 1st Death, the first separation, was Adam's fall.. "In adam we all die"........but not spiritually.....as this is the separation from God that Jesus came to restore for us on the Cross.
The 2nd Death, is to die unredeemed, never born again and there is no 2nd Chance given to trust in Christ after you die, so, that is the last separation from God., or the 2nd and final. = Dying never being born again. = The 2nd Death.

Its like this......as long as you are breathing, is your last chance to become "one with God", "In Christ", and die having eternal life.. born again.
Jesus said....>"You must be born again" or you dont Join God's Spirit and you die that 2nd Death, = eternal separation from God.
Once you are dead, you have entered this 2nd Death, or the endless separation from God....that is a death (Separation from God) that continues for eternity.

Yes he did have eternal life before the fall.

Adam was made in the image of God.

God "breathed" the Spirit into Adam, and Adam became a living Soul/Being". Genesis 2:7

So, the Spirit that Adam had was "one with God" and "God is A Spirit'", and so, Adam was the same.

Jesus is the 2nd Adam.
He is somewhat different then the 1st, as Jesus has a mother.
Adam only had God as His Creator who created Adam from the Earth.
Jesus came out of His mother's womb.

Many, including myself believe that it was Jesus who appeared in the flesh to Abraham and told him that Sarah would bear a child. Many also believe it was Jesus who wrestled with Jacob and who appeared in the fire with Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego. In every case where man saw God in the flesh it was Jesus. No one has seen The Father and no one has ascended except He who has descended, the Son of man.

Eternal life is just what it says, the person never dies. Before the fall Adam & Eve never would’ve died because death was not unleashed upon man. Romans 5 thru one sin death entered into the world and came to all men because all had sinned. (Paraphrasing). Before the fall there was no such thing as death.

"God is A Spirit"........who exists "in Light".
Jesus is "the Light of the world".
The born again are "Children of the Light".

There is also Meichizedek...

There is also God appearing in the "burning Bush" to Moses.

And there is Jesus dealing with Saul who became = Paul after Jesus was ascended back to heaven.

And "Jesus IS that Spirit", and so when the Holy Spirit leads you to believe in Jesus, and receive Him as Savior.....>Its all the same.

And you have this verse.......>"the born again are bone of Jesus's bone and flesh of Jesus's Flesh". Ephesians 5:30

Different versions state that verse differently, but all conclude it the same way.

Eternal life is just what it says, the person never dies.

Most people only think of eternal life as never ending time.

But, there is "eternal life"( >>in Christ<<} that is different then the fact that the spirit in an unbeliever never ends.

Jesus told us........"I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."""
So, that is not the same Eternal LIFE that an unbeliever has, regarding the fact that their spirit never dies.

The Trinity consists of three different personalities which are all God. Jesus didn’t pray to His own Spirit in the garden of Gethsemane saying “take this cup of suffering from My lips”. He was praying to a different person of the Trinity, The Father.

Adam's iniquity.... 1.) caused his spiritual union with God to end....that is "spiritual death", that is the 1st Death, but its actually the loss of spiritual union with God.

The 2nd Death is the permanent spiritual separation from God, that happens to an unbeliever (never born again) when they die.....and they are then sent to where you end up, and that is not Heaven.

2.) This spiritual separation from God, caused Adam's body to receive the effect of sin, which is death....so, His body eventually dies, as will yours.

We will not only be living in Spirit but will have actual physical bodies that will not die. We will eat and drink.

““You are those who have stood by Me in My trials; and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭22‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

This is referred to as the Marriage Supper of the Lamb in Revelation 19:7-9

I stated that there is Father, Son, Holy Spirit., in my post.

Jesus also said this...>"if you've seen me, you've seen the Father".

Jesus said..."i and my Father, are ONE"..

Jesus also said..>"before Abraham was born, = I AM"

"I AM that i AM" is the Name that God gave to Moses when Moses said to the burning bush..>>"what is your name". ?

John 1:10 says that JESUS created the WORLD.

Colossians 1:16...shows you Jesus doing it all........creation, all of it.

Jesus Prayed "FATHER forgive them".

Jesus said.>"not my will but yours "FATHER" that i will do".
And that verse Proves that Calvinism is a lie, as Calvin does not believe that you have Free will.

Jesus is the Great 'I Am".

= God is Jesus on the Cross.

God wrapped Himself in human flesh and died for your sin, BRN32FAN.

Do you think that Adam was physically going to die if he had never sinned?

No.

Sin = Iniquity/Lust/Rebellion/Works of the Flesh.....(its all the same)...... brings death.
So, had Adam not rebelled into iniquity, we would not need the Cross so that by Jesus's Stripes, Blood, and Death, we are healed of our lost condition. = (Saved)
"Jesus SAVES".

Had Adam never sinned then there would be no need for a Savior to die for our sin. (For the sin of the world).

Romans 5 : """Wherefore, as by one man (ADAM) sin entered into the world, and Death by sin; and so Death passed upon all men"""

Adam differed from us because Adam believed from the very beginning of his creation which is why he was spiritually alive. We on the other hand are born spiritually dead having no knowledge of God. A person can’t be spiritually alive without believing in God and no one is born a believer.

Romans 5 : """Wherefore, as by one man (ADAM) sin entered into the world, and Death by sin; and so Death passed upon all men"""

Adam was not born..>He was created.

His sin, and death by sin, is the "fallen Adamic nature" that we ended up with.
Its the "sin nature".
This nature is the Devil's normal state, and EZEKIEL 28:15, says teaches that Adam's "Adamic nature" issue started with Lucifer.

This "iniquity" is the Nature of the Devil, and it was Adam's fall and this sin nature is why we lust.
Being born again, gives us a new nature, as we are joined to the Divine Nature, who is : "God is A Spirit"....., just as Adam was "one with God" before he sinned and lost that spiritual union.
The 2nd Adam, who is Jesus, came so that we can be restored to Spiritual Union "one with God'. by being born again, and that NOT BY WATER.

And NOW ..., , there is Jesus's blood and Death, that is our Salvation, (Jesus is Salvation).... and because we are 'in Christ" we are joined to God, as our Eternal LIFE., by being BORN AGAIN.

Right so the death that is being referred to is a physical death not a spiritual death because we are born spiritually dead. We are not spiritually alive until we come to Christ. So sin cannot bring about our spiritual death if we were never spiritually alive to begin with. “Death came to all men because all sinned”. So the death referred to in Romans 5 cannot be referring to a spiritual death because we were all spiritually dead to begin with. The death that’s being referred to in Romans 5 is a physical death because we were spiritually dead but physically alive. Would you say that an unbeliever who hadn’t sinned yet is spiritually alive? A newborn perhaps?

Replying to original post:
That idea doesn't work. If humans multiply and no-one dies, then the Earth will become too small to fit us really fast. Any ideas how it could work?
We know from strong evidences that there have been many animals and plants who have lived and died on earth way before any humans came along. Many species have gone extinct way before humans. The natural cycle of life and death is clearly part of the design.

If humans would not have fallen to sin, perhaps there would have been a life free of suffering and disease for humans? Perhaps death would be a peaceful transition to Heaven that everyone would celebrate. Instead of a negative thing that causes us pain and grief for losing loved ones. There would be no spiritual death/perishing (going to hell). That's my speculation.

I didn't read the whole thread, sorry if these ideas have been discussed already.
