What is your method of Bible interpretation?
Here they is:

1. Bible says x, Science says x = go with x
2. Bible says x, Science says y = go with x
3. Bible says x, Science says ø = go with x
4. Bible says ø, Science says x = go with x
5. Bible says ø, Science says ø = free to speculate on your own

Prime Directive: Under no circumstances whatsoever is the Bible to be contradicted.

Now it's your turn, Paul.

What language did the entire earth speak in Genesis 11:1?

So you have no method of interpreting the Bible without Science?
Now it's your turn, Paul. What language did the entire earth speak in Genesis 11:1?

I don't know. It's not in the Bible. They spoke the anti-diluvian language of Adam and Eve. Adamese? Adevebrew? Hebrew seems to be a good possibility. What do think they spoke?

The only thing that's clear is it was one language for all the world until God confused it v7 in that they could no longer understand each other, like a reversal of Pentecost [Acts Chapter 1]. Then he "scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city."v8

When they were scattered they took the stories and myths they knew with them all over the earth.

Funny thing about claiming various flood stories are plagiarized myths is it tends to remind us that giant floods actually happen....

Just as we read in the news in recent years of "100 year flood" or "500 year flood", there is statistically a 5,000 or 10,000 year level, of course.
.

So many stories that are similar suggest not a myth, but a real event.
There are many flood stories, because many civilizations built their towns along rivers, and rivers tend to flood.
But the story of a flood on the Gangees, is not also about a flood on the Nile.
They are two separate floods.
Also, the bible flood story is plagiarized. We have the original source. The Gilgamesh Epic.

Do you have a better one?

If so, show me what it was.

Thanks.
Lovely presupposition. And wrong, as always.
The oldest languages that we have any idea of word pronunciation, are Sumerian, and Egyptian.
Sumerian is a Dravidic language. Closely related to the Dravidic languages spoken in India.
Egyptian is old Coptic. A Nilotic language. Closely related to Eritrian and Ethiopian.

Dan, do you understand the question?

Genesis 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

What was that language?

I say it was Jacobean English.

What say you?

If we're going by the Bible, I call it Edenese. A language that of course would no longer exist if some people full of hubris built some big tower and annoyed God.

Hi Laurier, it occurs to me we might miscommunicate if we don't have exactly the same word usage definitions in our minds as we write on this topic.

So, to be sure we are using the words the same way:

As I think you'd agree, an original work of art or a story can be plagiarized by copying more than just a few unique (not in common use among other artists) details of that work of art (without attribution, etc.).

In contrast, an reported event isn't like an original work of art. Restating that an event happened cannot be 'plagiarism' (even if there was an additional condition where one person merely restated what they heard from another). If someone reports a major volcanic eruption, and then someone else later in time restates basically the same report, that's not plagiarism, as it's merely stating a claim about a factual event. i.e. -- If Fred said the moon orbits the Earth, and later Ralph says the same, it's not plagiarism even though Ralph repeated what Fred first reported/wrote.

So, with those clear definitions, I think you'd find this report about a factual event (both events in the report are interesting, but the 2nd is quite remarkable in it's own way) made into a mythic story really interesting:

That's a good name for it.

In that case, "Jacobean English" is a sort of misnomer.

It would be like calling Constantinople, "Istanbul" again.

Same city, but a different name.

I do not waste time playing with blue text. Its generally a sign of you being up to a dastardly scheme

The 3100 BC date is not the start of Egyptian civilization, but of the dynastic period and unification and roughly corresponds to the development of hieroglyphs. The Egyptian civilization(s) extend far back from that point.
Indeed.
The civilization itself, long predates the writing it gave rise to.

That's right.

Because neanderthals are a figment of science's imagination -- a misnomer, mislabel.
No. Its a species of extinct human

They were human beings from the day of their birth, to their death.
Indeed. But a different species of human.

It's like finding a graveyard full of guillotine victims and labeling them Homo sine capite, then claiming they predated Homo sapiens by a million years.
No. Its more like finding a new species of humans.

No -- they weren't some prehistoric race.
lol

They were human beings who had an unfortunate date with the guillotine.
And you fail to sew the needed levels of confusion

So maybe you can try coming out and getting to the point, for a change. All this tapdancing around, is just silly
Better yet, why don't you hang around more often?
