I dunno about in a broader sense. My experience is that when people do examine the evidence i.e. read the Bible they are driven away from it- if they didn’t already believe.

And that seems to be my thesis here. The Bible only make sense if you already believe in the Bible.

That makes me think that people are not being uptaken by Christianity because they are not exposed to it as very young children.
well not exactly because you can to some degree use the bible to prove the bible because there are bible prophecies that were proven to be true, there are also health laws in the bible that are confirmed by modern science so even just using the bible itself provides evidence of its truth.

Well yeah, the Bible certainly mentions real cities (for example) but so does the Iliad. That does not make the book accurate in all areas.

I’ve never heard of an un ambiguous prophecy that has been shown to be actualised.

And food prescription doesn’t really mean much today. What foods proscribed by the Bible are still bad to eat, today? That Bronze Age peoples knew what and what not to eat is not very surprising.

Your first link says the the prophecy of Daniel 9:25-26 has a Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 10x5.

Which is only a little less likely than the life time risk of dying in the bath.

Not very convincing to someone who does not already believe.

There was a good deal more content than that, looking at the big picture is necessary consider all the evidence and then consider that all of those things just happened to happen just as it was said that they would.

I looked and with the next few prophecies they are of the same magnitude. What is a non Christian to think when evidence of fulfilled prophecy boils down to predicting something that has a decent chance of happening anyway?

And that is my point. From the position of someone who does not already believe the Bible’s claims are unconvincing.

If you have a particular specific prophecy that you feel best represents the success of the predictions within the Bible I’d be interested.

There were over 300 prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament each one was fulfilled.

Please chose one that you think is the best. We both have limited time I'm sure so let's agree to approach this with good intent and our best evidence.
Select any one you like. You are right I have limited time because some people truly want to know the truth, and I am more than willing to spend my time with them.

Great. I’ll take the first one in the link you provided.

1. Genesis 3:15

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

This is proposed as a prophesy of Jesus’ birth.

I don’t see it. Do you?

"The serpent symbolizes the devil, a personal being who tries to frustrate God's plans an draw man to perdition."30 It has been the tradition of the Church from the very beginning to refer to the serpent as Satan, who is a fallen angel. According to St. Ambrose, "since every creature is subject to passion, lust stole into man's affection with the stealth of a serpent".31 Verse 3:15 is richly filled with spiritual meanings of the text. The subject matter of the verse is the confrontation that will occur between the serpent and the woman. The spiritual sense of this verse involves the coming of the Messiah and the Woman, the Blessed Virgin Mary, who will bear Him. The seed of the serpent will try to attack the seed of the woman, Jesus Christ, but will only inflict a wound that is non-fatal. The seed of the woman, Jesus Christ, will inflict a mortal wound to the seed of the serpent. The non-fatal wound that Christ will suffer is in His death upon the cross, the mortal wound that Christ inflicts upon the serpent, Satan, is Christ's conquering death for all."

No. No, I just don’t see the verse as saying any of that. Read in it’s own it clearly says that there will be discord between people.

It is not prophetic because the exegesis is a post hoc rationalisation. And this get’s to the nub of why younger people are falling away from Christianity.

It does not make sense unless you already believe.

Yes there is discord between the followers of satan and the followers of Jesus.

That’s just another example of the ‘them and us’ attitude Christians try to foist on people. If you don’t already believe that there is a metaphysical conflict between one side and the other it’s irrelevant.

Giving people an ultimatum of ‘either you are with us or against us’ make the younger generations shrug their shoulders and get on with their lives.

Most people understand that there exists both good and evil, everything we do serves one or the other.

People can be evil, I agree. But a metaphysical evil? I and the people in the younger generations who are not turning to Religion remain unconvinced this supernatural war is anything more than a Bronze Age fiction.

OK so what is the source of evil and how do we know the difference between good and evil?

Evil is a description of a thought or action. It’s not matter or energy. What one person calls evil another might not.

Killing a person for no reason is considered evil by most people but killing for a reason is often not labels as evil.

A stark black and white morality where there is a defined good and evil that is more than how we label thoughts and behaviour only happens in fiction- like how in Star Wars there is a very clearly defined good vs evil.

That’s great if you want a simple world that is easy to grasp but that isn’t how the real world works.

It’s all shades of grey.
