The problem with the Capitol attack wasn't that the USCP didn't deploy enough officers or other defenses, it was that it was *not* a protest turned riot, but a deliberate attack using an angry crowd as a tactical weapon. Blaming this on Pelosi, or McConnell, or the Chief is to deflect from the real causation.

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., was confronted by one of her Republican colleagues for live-tweeting the locations of various House lawmakers as the Capitol riot unfolded, according to audio tapes obtained by CNN.

The exchange reportedly played out during an internal conversation on January 11 between Boebert and Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Wash., who asked the freshman firebrand point blank, "Is it true that you were live-tweeting from the floor our location the people on the outside as we were being attacked, Lauren?"

"Umm, yes," Boebert responded. "Those tweets did go out and that was something that was live and public information. It was broadcast live."

"So don't ask us about security if you're telling the attackers where we're at," Beutler shot back.

According to Rolling Stone, Boebert was in contact with several organizers of the "Stop the Steal" protests days prior to the insurrection. Boebert also led a late-night Capitol tour three weeks ahead of the event in apparent violation of Capitol procedures, as Salon reported last August.

Prosecutors filed a motion Friday asking a judge not to loosen restrictions on suspected Capitol rioter Riley Williams because they say she recently met with a man who wanted to shoot up a synagogue and lied about it.

Williams, 23, who is accused of directing rioters inside the Capitol and stealing Nancy Pelosi’s laptop, told probation officers she was getting a visit from her cousin in August. But the visit actually was from a man who had been convicted of stealing his roommate’s truck, and attempting to buy a gun with plans for a mass shooting at a synagogue, according to the motion.

Prosecutors say Williams also got her mother to lie to her probation officer about the visit by the man in August 2021 to her mother’s home, where she is residing, according to the motion. Williams’ mother was assigned by the court to be her third-party monitor to ensure she complies with the conditions of her pre-trial release.

Ms. Williams is quite a piece of work. She has connections to the AF/"Groyper" groups generally and was wearing a "groyper" t-shirt on Jan. 6. (The Nick Fuentes, AF and his "groyper army" are kind of hard to explain or understand, but they are all young (under 30), work on a "clean-cut" image, and push a performative envelope to get as close-to and just cross over the line with explicit racist symbols and slogans while pretending it is "just a joke" (it is not).

Online researchers also found a video featuring Ms. Williams that was soaked in neo-nazi, white supremacist, and anti-Semitic imagery. (I will not link for obvious reasons.)

It seems to me that the hearings are a consequence or repercussion of Jan 6th. But yes, I have been trying to discuss the hearings in the already existing hearing thread(s). And this thread more for discussing those accused of taking part in the Breach of the Capitol, and their motivations, and who they may have been talking to, and who egged them on in the leadup to Jan 6, but this again strays into some of the topics being covered by the hearings.
