Do you understand the difference between a right, and a need?
I think there’s about 20 families in Texas this week who might disagree as to how well it’s working. In any case, why focus on DC? Gun crimes are a problem across the entire country. There’s not a single corner anymore where people are safe from this type of violence. It's working extremely well. Compare D.C..
An armed people protects all of those things.
So you believe that not all men are created equal. That some have more rights than others?
The Declaration of Independence is what gives our Constitution standing.
I am not another man's property; and I bow to no man. Free men own guns.
If only those Texas kids had been able to return fire.

I'm wondering why the teachers weren't armed. Many teachers tend to lean Left. Maybe Texas needs to pass a law, that requires teachers to be armed as a civic duty.
If Lott wants to come on this forum and argue his point I will gladly debate him. But so far all I seen is that Lott has convinced you, but you have not cited what he said that convinced you. So it should not be surprising that I remain unconvinced. Don't expect me to do your work for you.As Lott has demonstrated the losses are escalated from a lack of guns in the hands of the law abiding.
Maybe you should focus on how many lives are saved by guns in the hands of the law abiding, in states where the people aren't oppressed with draconian gun laws. You'll probably have to dig into government statistics to get you answers. The Left biased media has little interest in reporting stories that undermine their agenda.
An armed person just murdered 21 people. Who protected them?
Teachers have a hard enough time getting supplies like pencils and erasers for their class and you think they’re going to have the extra money available for a gun, ammunition and training on how to deal with a psychopath even the police are apprehensive to engage directly?I'm wondering why the teachers weren't armed. No, I believe we have whatever rights we assign ourselves. Nothing is inalienable. The Christian God doesn't grant us any rights. Any other claim is heresy.
Cause and effect is backwards from what you may think. Actually it goes like this: in places that have low crime rates, society allows more guns. (Think Montana.). It is not guns that prevent crime. It is crime that prevents guns.See: More Guns, Less Crime ~ Lott

It wasn't an unarmed person. The criminal was stopped by an armed man.

I honestly wonder what fantasy world some of you are living in.
Book, Chapter, Verse?
I don’t know or care who this Lott person is or what they think is the solution. The United States has by far the most guns of any country on earth and by far the most mass shooting events of any country on earth that’s not embroiled in a civil war.See: More Guns, Less Crime ~ Lott
Russia uses conscripts also.I'm wondering why the teachers weren't armed. Many teachers tend to lean Left. Maybe Texas needs to pass a law, that requires teachers to be armed as a civic duty.

and yet most gun deaths are not caused by ARS but hand guns.

There’s your correlation.
I’m Pro Life cradle to grave. Oddly some people claim to be Pro Life are less concerned about murdered children than “gun rights”.Interesting. I never looked at it that way before.
So you're asserting that areas controlled by the Left are more murderous? When I look at their general disrespect for unborn children; I almost feel swayed by this unsubstantiated opinion.
