No you won't, Dan.
Yes AV. I will.
And you know full well that I will.
And you know why I will.

I know you well enough not to buy that.
See above

Remember our conversation with Styx?
Where you tried to derail a topic, namely the choir I was a part of, to try to get me to say that I believe in flying saucers/little green space men.
Yes, I do indeed remember.

Even when I showed you the album cover?
And failed to get me to play along.

Don't they say a picture is worth a thousand words?
Depends on who "they" is

And you still denied knowing what I was talking about (or said I was wrong, I can't remember which).
Neither. I kept calling you out on your repeated demonstrations of overt dishonesty. Your despicable attempt to try to get me to profess a silly belief that I do not hold, was a real shock. It showed me the depths you were prepared to sink to, to try to discredit a non-fundamentalist.

No.

The one where I claimed academia would just consider angels as aliens from another planet.

And I used the verse from one of Styx' songs to show just that.

They were visited by angels, only, to their horror, they were UFOs.

That's when the Styx hit the fan.

And might this be why we don't see anyone on this forum subscribing to the thought of Alexander Dugin

Maybe you don't...

You kind of need to stop, for all of the reasons I've mentioned this past week. Your diatribe is getting rather tiresome.

You kind of need to realize that if you weren't terribly convincing this past week, you're not going to be convincing this week.

Next week isn't looking too good, either...

Oh, I definitely don't. No one else should either.

That's sweet of you to say so. :smoke:

Careful... As Granny Valentine used to say, you're "should" ing all over the place, and I'm not going to clean it up.

Would you like to point out who does so that I may summarily dispense with him/her? :)

I'm certain that you aren't. But we are investigating how scripture can affect one's moral compass. The original example was the flood. Nobody seems to want to condemn it as immoral because they deem anything God does as being moral. So we looked at the situation where God gives the command for others to do something we surely would consider to be immoral.

And we still don't get any condemnation. All we get is 'It's not for us. It's for the Jews. I wouldn't do it'. And no, that's not a direct quote but it's your stated position. Which is simply adding weight to my argument.
Referring to the flood some Christians don't take that literally. They say the first 11 chapters of Genesis are a literary framework and we misinterpret them because they were not written for us. It would be like if you pulled into a restaurant and saw a sign that said No Football Coaches. What would you think? Nick Saban couldn't eat there? But what if I told you the sign was in Europe? There soccer is called football and buses are called coaches. Soccer fans are known to be rowdy so no football coaches means no soccer buses. Some say we misinterpret scripture the same way because it was written for someone else in a different time. Was the flood a moral act? If God did it I must believe he had reasons that are beyond my ability to understand. Would I commit an immoral act because God told me to? No I would see a psychiatrist if I thought such a thing

This is the whole point. If God does something it must be moral. However evil it seems to us. But if He asks you to do the same thing...then it's unacceptable.

I'd ask for it in writing.

I think that if you actually thought that He'd asked you to massacre the family next door (he had reasons that are beyond your ability to understand) then you thinking you'd received the order in writing wouldn't really be a problem.

Well one thing is I don't know how he would ask me and if I heard a voice telling me to do something evil I would think it was evil no matter who it claimed to be.

And if God gives it to you in writing, how does that make it any different?
Next you'll have Him shoving me out the door ... right?

(You guys and your hypos! ;))

So you've never heard of someone asking God for some advice and then being absolutely convinced that He had given it? You've never heard of someone declaring with absolute conviction that they are 'doing God's will'? How many examples would you like me to give you?
